And yet regardless of what happens to Torts, Sather will keep his job yet again.

This team needs a change.
I think it's a lot harder to pull off in such a short season.

We've come to accept that he's GM til he dies so we don't even bother anymore

Haven't followed much of the Rangers.. but they have a good roster: Nash, Gaborik, Richards, Stepan, Callahan, McDonaugh, Staal, Girardi, MDZ, Lundqvist.

Hard to blame the GM when that roster underperforms.

That's a legit concern. Still want Torts fired. Used to be that every game was torturous because it was so boring, now it's torturous because it's so boring and bad.

I don't think they should.

He traded away most of the players that played with heart (or never resigned in the case of Prust), and continues to make ridiculous contracts.

We could change coaches on the fly, have it be a complete disaster, and miss the playoffs. OR we can stick with a guy with no system, no structure and no continuity, who has clearly lost the team, and miss the playoffs.

Same ****. At least with the former, there's some hope

I can't see the Rangers firing him now because it's too risky in a shortened season. You guys just need to get healthy and don't forget you have a great goalie too.

What are we risking? We blow anyway.

I think you have a better chance of the playoffs with Torts rather than without him right now, hence why I say risky.

Sather put together a very good team; It's not his fault Tortorella hasn't adapted his system over the years to suit a more skilled roster.

Really it has nothing to do with that. Before today the Rangers scored 3 goals in 3 games. Today they lost in large part because their supposedly elite goaltender couldn't stop a beach ball. The Rangers' problem this year has been offense. Prust, Dubinsky (at least the Dubi of last year), and Fedotenko wouldn't help with that. One guy we could use is Anisimov. However he got us Nash who's been our best forward. I'd still do that trade 100 times out of 100. Missing those players and having Nash isn't the problem. The problem is that guys like Richards and Gaborik have been hot garbage.

I admit I watch next to no Rangers games, but being a Jets fan I watched the game tonight. Callahan was the spark out there, hitting and blocking shots (that shift in the 2nd where he lost his stick was sick) and that led to goals for the Rangers. If more players played like him tonight the score would be a lot different, Callahan can't do it all himself.

While I'm not in the boat that says that Lundqvist has been playing mediocre this year, he has not been the same Lundqvist as last year. I wouldn't be surprised if he never touches those numbers again. Today he pretty much lost us the game. I honestly don't see the motivation in this team to pick themselves up by the bootstraps and make the playoffs as anything other than a 7th or 8th seed at best (if they make the playoffs). I'd be willing to roll the dice on someone else. But who? That's an important question. Can't fire him and hire Bozo the Clown.

Really? Which ones? Girardi is the only player to get injured blocking a shot this season, and he didn't even miss a game because of it.

I don't know why I even bother anymore, but Tortorella isn't getting fired. The Rangers finished first in the Eastern Conference last season, made it to the Eastern Conference Finals, and altogether had the best season the team has experienced since 1997. He's not losing his job over a crappy couple of months. Stop posting stupid crap, everyone.

Eh, tonight we were really shorthanded and Lundqvist **** the bed. Not a good game to the team on. Though, then again look at Ottawa winning with worse injuries. Still, that's not very common and if their goalies **** the bed like Lundqvist did today they wouldn't be on a 5 game winning streak, I promise you that.

OT but I couldn't even believe I was seeing Girardi on the ice tonight after that huge clapper in the ankle.

He must be still hurting from that.

Rangers almost came all the way back Winterpeg was brutal on D in the third.
