Definitely agree with DS here, he's not a top 6 C

Bonino isn't a top 6 center when he plays with Ryan and Selanne due to their play style. He certainly could be with the right players however. The Ducks just don't have those players, so he'll likely wind up as a scoring 3C.

Anyone else think we should claim mcgratton off waivers?
I was upset last time we lost him. He would be great on the 4th line with maroon and beleskey.

i dont know if we need him here. if we're keeping staubitz up here, then we have no need for him. if we aren't then yes. bring in mcgratton for the 4th line please.

also just a note on bonino. I'm not too sure if he can handle normal top-6 duties. But I do think he's a fantastic bottom 6 forward and he'll be a stud 3C.
I'm glad Holland got sent down, please have Ryan at 2C again.. jesus...

These lines are fantastic (imo obviously)
Belesky-Getzlaf-Perry
Palmieri-Ryan-Selanne
BEAST LINE
Maroon-Bonino-Etem.

That could definitely be solid... What I see there is 4 lines that can play and that can definitely score as well

It's possible that we are gonna have the same centres as last night too.

Would love to get McGratton back here but only if we could figure out a way to get rid of Staubitz, which isn't happening.

I actually thought Bonino played a real good game last night. Seems he plays his best hockey against the Kings.

Send him down. We don't need him as of now if we got Mcgratton then we really wouldn't need him. If someone claims him then we are off the hook. Win, win if you ask me.

we dont need mcgratton, hes an equal plug to staubitz and we are a budget team. simple solution is to keep staubitz, i personally liked the physical play of the 4th line last night

I don't see why personally, he clearly needs time in the AHL, outside of his first 2 games thought he was rather unimpressive, but this can be put down to not being NHL ready IMO.

Somebody please explain to me what is going on here? Between the constant line changes and the exchange of guys between her and Norfolk I just don't understand what BB is looking for. Was Holland that bad since his recall? Was Etem that good in the A since his demotion?

I have no complaints with the results but WTF?

Trying to get them to compete maybe? I think he said something along those lines when they sent down Holland the first time.

Doesn't seem like a game plan with teaching involved. It seems as though these prospects are made to develop on their own. Let the cream rise to the top and see it excel. But with all the constant changing, I don't think it benefits our youngings who need instructions. I keep hearing rolling four lines, but recently I've seen fourth line players with only 7 to 8 minutes... on the second game of a back to back when everyone's skating slow.

I don't get it. I mean, they kept Rakell for a lot longer than I thought, but when put into context that they see Holland as a 2C, well Rakell is a 2C as well so why the wait? I like consistency. It's easier to pinpoint positives and negatives that way. There's just too much movement and not a lot of experiences for our rookies.

McGrattan must be a Finn as his name is misspelled so often

Same deal as Palmieri, last year?

I think this rotation is good for the younger ones. They need top 6 minutes and they just get it down there. I think overall they benefit from playing in both leagues. Rakell on the other hand was never in the situation to rotate. From that point of view they kept him as long as possible. Now it counts in junior leagues, a good time to lead and show the improvement.

To sum it up, I see the gameplan!

We will see a lot of call ups and send downs in the next weeks imo as the Ducks have a horrendous schedule.

Shuffling young guys between here and the A shouldn't have anything to do with the schedule. It has no impact on getting the old guys any more rest.

Well maybe but wouldn't you say Palmieri was more proven last year than Etem this year? And Etem's short tenure last trip up consisted of a couple of decent games followed by a bit of a downhill slide. He sure didn't look like he was ready to bust into the league yet. He then goes down for, what, 2 weeks and then returns again?

I'm not one of the people that thinks those judgments are made that way. His first appearances remind me a lot of Kyle's last year.

Beleskey - Getzlaf - Perry
Palmieri - Ryan - Selanne
Cogliano/Winnik - Koivu - Winnik/Cogliano
McGratton - Bonino - Etem

Extra: Staubitz

That's what I'd like to see.

Just a thought...if we are to trade Perry at the deadline, wouldn't a trade with Bruins and Krejci+ be a good deal for both parts? Given that we re-sign Getzlaf, our center depth for next season could be amazing.

Getzlaf, Krejci, (Koivu), Rakell, Bonino, Holland.

I have trouble sorting out deals with Perry that would benefit both teams. How to still remain a contender without weakening your team.

Horton, Thornton plus a 2nd (1st if they make finals) rounder might do it. Issue is, I don't know if Horton would waive his NMC to be a rental to Anaheim.

At those terms I would rather keep Perry and go for the cup while losing him for nothing at the end. Switching him for a late 1st/2nd and a 35 year old don't strike me as a particular great deal.
