What would you guys be looking for in return for Briere? I feel like it will probably be more than we want to pay when you consider how long he's been a Flyer and his playoff performance.
I don't know much about your prospects or their value but probably a 1st or Jayden Schwartz. Sorry if that is a ridiculous proposal, just what I as a fan would want

I still believe he gets bought out over the summer, so we're going to lose him anyway IMO, might as well try and get something for him now if he agrees to waive his NMC. I would be surprised if he does.

I don't think we buy him out this summer if we can't immedaitely replace him with someone (ie: Perry)

Totally agree, people get too obsessed with the cap numbers and fail to realize that our farm system is pretty void of anyone who can replace his scoring, however little some people think it might be.

The best scenario for the Flyers would be to trade him, another team buys him out and the Flyers re-sign him for 2 years 5 million (the money he would have made anyway). The problem would be a team like St Louis may want to keep Briere since they would only play him 3 million for 6.5 worth of cap space.

I'm sure the Flyers love Shattenkirk but I have a hard time thinking St Louis would give him up, would probably be better for them to target Ty Rattie or even try to get Jake Allen if they're going to buyout Bryz.

Plus, we arent in a bad position with the cap next year either, so buying out Briere isn't a necessity.

We'll have about $5m in cap space with no key players needed to be re-signed to big contracts. Plus an extra $5m from Pronger's LTIR if needed

With the way Rinaldo has been playing lately, I'd say we need to resign him even though it probably won't be for much. Gagne is a wild card and we also need a real backup goalie. If the Flyers don't re-sign Sestito they'll be looking for an enforcer as well.

This team is going nowhere with Briere so I think his days as a Flyer need to end.

Hopefully Briere sees the benefit of being traded instead of bought out.

Well the cap is a real thing that we have to deal with and we're up against it next year. 19 players signed at 62 of a 64m cap, it's a legit concern.

There's a bonus cushion, so we have about $5m in cap space going into next season

The only players I'd like to see the blues give up are

1. Ty Rattie
2. Jordan Schmaltz (last year's first rounder)
3. Matt D'agistini
4. Future Draft picks

Jake Allen is off limits.

What does any of this have to do with class? He got the NMC and has every right to do what he wants. If he doesn't want to move, he'll just veto it, especially since it isn't just for 2 months. Unless it's the perfect fit for him and his family, he'll stay here and force the Flyers to buy him out. That doesn't make him any more or less classy than he already is.

One thing has nothing to do with another. We're in cap trouble as usual AND our prospects are thin. Holmgren is going to have to get creative and it's not going to be easy.

Hate to see Briere gone because of his playoff ablitity but he isn't producing a lot for his salary cap. I believe the Flyers dump Matt Walker and Lilja's salary at end of season, Walker has been hurt forever.
Briere to Winnipeg for Dustin Byfuglien.

I said earlier that St Louis just makes too much sense if we are going to trade Briere. That cap hit with his salary is perfect for the way that teas operates on a budget. Also like everyone else is saying, of course he is going to say the things he is now, he won't come right out and say he wants out. He's also been a classy guy off the ice.

Now if I was Homer I would target Ian Cole. A young defender who has potential, just not sold on him yet though. He is on his last year of his ELC and still has trouble cracking the lineup. He is there now though and playing. You never know maybe Briere and someone else(defender) could be heading out there in a bigger deal.

If I am homer, you have to ask high right now.

Ian Cole
1st rounder

for

Briere.

Also Jordan Schmaltz interest me from the Blues as well.

I am more interested in defenseman to be honest. Although adding another talented forward to the mix wouldn't hurt, it makes much more sense to target one of their young top 4 potential defenseman

I am talking about Jordan Schmaltz their young defenseman???

Schwartz is their young winger who has really high potential.
