Send Schroeder down, activate Pinizzotto, send him down, bring Schroeder back up. There's more to this.

Volpatti is awful. Nopt sure where the love around here comes from. He plays 5-6 minutes a night, mostly hemmed in his own zone, and has no offensive idea whatsoever. Plus he's not big enough to grind or enforce if that's his game. He shouldn't even have made the team.

It's probably Jason Arnott

“We would like Aaron to go down and play more, particularly kill penalties,” explained Canuck assistant general Laurence Gilman. “We do not plan to call someone up today.”
Oh Gilman, that's because you CAN'T call up someone today. Sneaky lawyerese!

It's because the Canucks have struggled to find ideal 4th liners over the last few years. Volpatti has actually been one of the better ones in recent memory.

I'm studying for criminal law right now anyway, so my lawyerese radar is more alert than usual.

I'm pretty sure Arnott failed the physical when he signed with NYR

He has been the worst player on the roster by a sizeable margin. He can hit and forecheck but that's it. With the puck on his stick he's useless and he's horrible at getting the puck out of our own zone. Turns it over more often than not or simply isn't in position to get it in the first place.

@NHLbyMatty: Oilers were nosing around Aaron Volppati awhile back. They should be taking him on waivers from Canucks. They need toughness.

I just find this strange. They call up pinner and send him down.. Then what? Vandeemeer ? Or is sonething else on the way.

Or they're that confident pinner can come in and play.

He's played no hockey though.

They can have him. Oilers need more players who are liabilities on the ice.

Oilers should consider claiming Volpatti. Would be a very good fourth line winger. Plays either side, is gritty, good teammate. Good fit
Rishaug covers the Oilers for TSN.

They can have him if they REALLY want him that much.

#canucks need roster spot, Weise kills penalties+Volpatti doesn't. VAN didn't want to expose a d-man on waivers. Reasons for decision.

Cool story, Murph. They didn't want to expose Cam Barker, who hasn't played in two months since being released by an AHL team to waivers. Something stinks.

Apparently there were a couple of other teams interested in signing Barker.
So if we waived him, he would likely be claimed. Gillis loves having 8 d-men on the roster at all times.

All for this move as long as it means Pinizzotto is on the Canucks.
