Wouldn't it cost quite a bit to get him?

I don't see how they could do it without having to move Coburn or Meszaros, and even if they move either one, they still need a bit more cap space to fit in Byfuglien's $5.2M cap hit.

I don't think there's a team in the league that wouldn't be interested in Byfuglien...

Sure, Winnepeg is going to trade a very good offensive dman to a team that it is fighting for a playoff spot. What could go wrong?

That's going to be difficult with a NMC as well as his $6.5M cap hit over the next couple of seasons, especially with the cap going down next season.

With the NTC maybe but his contract is absolutely fantastic for a team that doesn't spend a lot on the cap

6.5 cap hit, 2 more years and being paid 3 and 2 million for a total of 5 million

They will also add a roster player and a cap dump(anyone).

but he's only due $5m over the next 2 seasons. Would be a great fit for a team with a low budget needing to reach the cap floor

That is why a team like the Islanders would love to have him.

If the price is right I could see Winnipeg trade him. Price would be pretty hefty though. Buff in PHI would be awesome though.

Are the Jets remotely interested in moving Byfuglien? I'd be surprised if that were the case.

He's a beast.

That is why I don't want the Jets wants to trade Buff unless it is a huge overpayment.

St.Louis and Boston have already asked about him(Briere). If he is willing to waive, and Philly wants to trade him, there are teams that will want him.

I trust Eklund to a decent extent when it comes to Flyers stuff although I won't believe it until I see it regardless. I would hate to see Big Buff in a Flyers sweater though.

Apparently Cheveldayoff was just at a recent Flyers game so it wouldn't surprise me. It makes sense for the Flyers but a bigger contract would have to go back to Winnipeg to allow the Flyers to take on Byfuglien's contract. Briere? Doubt it. He won't waive. Winnipeg would have to be getting a pretty good return too if it's for Byfuglien. He's not someone I see them wanting to trade. If they're getting back a scoring forward then maybe it's worth it to them, but it's not like Byfuglien is expendable or anything, although they have some good young defensemen already on the team and some good prospects in the pipeline. That said, they won't move Byfuglien unless they're getting a good forward in return.

Would be something else to see the man that caused the Flyers absolute fits in the SCF a few years ago play for them though. I already had to suffer through seeing Versteeg go to Philadelphia.

I don't think the Flyers have put Pronger on LTIR yet. That would be over 4mill cleared right there, and any other player in the deal (which there would have to be given the Flyers are at the contract limit) would make up the difference to squeeze him under the cap.

Yes. Teams just can't amnesty an injured player.

Unless for a huge overpayment. Both Schenns and 1st Round pick for Byfuglien(hey homer might be desperate).

But why would Briere waive his NMC to go to the Islanders?

If there is any truth to this, Flyers fans had best be ready to say good-bye to some of their supposed untouchables. Winnipeg is going to want a huge ransom with how good Byfuglien has played.
