I like Dupuis but away from Crosby he's no top 6. He has stone hands. He'd be a nice upgrade on Armstrong, but only if he gets paid as such.

I love Elias but I feel he will stay with the Devils.

Two UFAs that Bergevin will surely target after the addition of Michael Ryder

Re-sign Ryder $4 million/year for 3 years
Sign Ribeiro $5 million/year for 3 years
Sign Dagenais $3.5 million/year for 3 years

Isn't Elias a UFA too? Could be an interesting plan B for 2 years. Would fit perfectly in Therrien's system.

Wouldn't that make you happy?

We could probably use the guy in shootouts

koivu

either of Getzlaf/perry/semin.

Smid on D wouldnt be bad either at the right price, although we'll probably have tinordi or Beaulieu graduating.

The thing with Elias is that he is turning 37 in April. Not sure it would be a smart move unless it's a 1 year deal which I doubt that's what he will be looking for. I think he will stay and retire a Devils

I would give Elias a 2 year deal if we miss out on other options, he's still playing very well, but I suspect any shorter deal he's willing to take will be back with the Devils.

I haven't seen too too much of the Ducks this year but from what I have watched, Corey Perry hasn't quite impressed me too much yet. I would be nervous to sign him to a big contract. I mean, I'm sure he'd be good for us, but I would really like a player like Clarkson who is not only able to score a decent amount but is definitely a tough guy too. I also want Lapierre back but that's probably cause he was a favorite of mine.

Perry and Clarkson are the only UFA's that I think Bergevin should go after.

He seems like a guy that keeps himself in great shape. I would have no problem signing him for 2 years at reasonable money(around 5 mil/year).

Last 2 years...81 GP 26-52-78 and 19 GP 5-17-22...100 points in 100 games.

I would be totally okay with that. I'm obviously really happy about how we've been playing this year and I really hope we keep it up all year regardless, but it also helps with free agents- they may see us as a contender with a few more pieces, and maybe they'll see themselves as those pieces.

I still don't know how comfortable I'd be with tying up big money for Perry though.

You can't put Dupuis on the 4th line if you sign him. He's more talented than that.

In order i would like:

Perry(of course!!!!)
Horton(really like this player)
Getzlaf(too much center but he's amazing)
Clowe(very gritty but having a bad season)
Clarkson(will cost way to much)
Elias(too old)
Dupuis(best 3rd liner)

I haven't seen Perry play a lot and I have a question mark about his discipline... Last year he had 127 PIMS with only 3 fighting majors. Same thing the year before, 104 PIMS with 2 fights.

Is he taking a lot of bad penalties ?

He does seem like a guy in great shape. However I just don't think it's something this new management will do and would prefer going after younger players and keeping the original veterans on board. Well see

Corey Perry takes a lot of stupid penalties for retaliation, pretty short fuse

I am pretty certain NJ will have to let 1 of Clarkson or Elias go unless 1 of them takes a big discount. Especially since Henrique is a RFA. Decent pieces like Zubrus and Zidlicky are also UFAs.

They already have just under 40 M on the books in terms of $ next season (not cap, actual $) for 15 players and they are a budget team. Kovalchuk at 11.3 M in salary is a huge reason why they are in a bit of a pickle.

I would honestly rather offer sheet Henrique. He's like getting Kirk Muller just about to hit his prime.

He's good for a few 10 min penalties a year. Last year 55 of his 127 were from fighting or misconduct penalties.
