Canucks to make a move?

Aaron Volpatti was waived, possibly to clear roster space. Is a move upcoming?

We're obviously clearing space so we can call up superstar Andrew Ebbett.

per Bob McKenzie

Aaron Volpatti on waivers for 2 reasons. 1. Get him icetime. 2. Open roster spot for Steve Pinizzotto, coming off injured non-roster status.
So, it seems like no move, just Vancouver thinking Pinizzotto will be a better fit than Volpatti.

But I had a change of heart and left this open, because speculating about Canuck moves seems rather harmless, but the second it goes off the rails, it will be closed, so keep it civil.

Bobby Mac has no connections with the Canucks organization, as much as I respect his reporting on prospects and all things eastern conference, he hasn't been close on a Canuck rumour/issue in a very LONG time.

Once Pinizzotto is officially on VAN roster (after Volpatti clears or is claimed) SP can be sent to Chicago (AHL) for conditioning stint.

Piniozotto is still injured, he suffered a setback. Bobby Mac should know this.

Bobby Mac is way off on this, if we wanted to get Steve down, we would send Schroeder down (no waivers) and then send down Pinnizzotto, then call Jordan back up.

Something else is brewing

This is an interesting point, but Bob Mckenzie is usually pretty reliable. Pinizotto may not be officially sent down for conditioning stint, there might be a roster/waiver exemption for that.

I'd like to see a guy like Pinizzotto get an opportunity, especially with the injury bug that's been dogging him. Wasn't he re-signed by Gillis because he was hurt and couldn't prove himself on his last contract?

And while I can't opinionate/fact check on McKenzie and Canuck news/rumours, there's a reason why he's the number one guy for this sort of thing. He wouldn't pull Pinizzotto out of a hat.

Pinner hasn't played in months... He's reinjured his groin. Friedman is the go-to guy for the Canucks.

Jensen won't be available til March 6th, and even then, Canucks will likely want to drop him into Chicago for a stint to see if his game in Sweden can translate into North American hockey.

I like what I have seen from Pinnizzotto.... but not enough to risk losing Aaron Volpatti.

I'm kind of wondering about Keslers broken foot, I guess it can't be to serious because otherwise that would have been an open roster spot.

I know nothing about Piniozotto but his name reminds me of Strazzabosco

If the PIN is actually coming back to finally play Im interested to see it pan out. However the first thing that crossed my mind was potential trade brewing. But in the end Im sure nothing exciting will happen except for the fire works I set off in my back yard.

This.

Why would we bother sending Volpatti down knowing that Kesler is going to be placed on IR with a broken foot? It doesn't really add up to me.

He's out 4 weeks no?

maybe a trade is coming where the Canucks are getting 2 roster players back? and need to make room?

I'm not sure if it's been confirmed, breaks can even be 6 weeks.

Without Kesler and Volpatti, we have 11 forwards on our roster. Even if Pinizzotto was ready you'd think he'd have a conditioning stint first in the AHL which would not leave him ready for Saturday's game. I doubt we're going into Saturday's game with 11 forwards, and I see no reason to risk Volpatti on waivers if we weren't making a move.
