If not, look for Lou Lamariello to name Mogilny and Malakhov as Devils executive later today!

I'm assuming it would still count based on his age....(ie: Malakhov)

Supposedly, if your older than 35 and sign a contract and then retire, in the new CBA, the rest of your contract will count against the cap.

2 more years at $750,000 for Snow....(I guess they can't buyout Yashin now )

Doesn't matter. He was over 35 (1 day past his 36th BDay) when he signed his 3 year deal last July 29, so the AlMo rule kicks in. The Isles are on the hook for his $750K cap hit this season and next.

I guess he can always buy himself out, or refuse to report so he can suspend/terminate himself for breaching his contract .

Then he can file a grievance against himself through the NHLPA...

Too late. I bought them on Ebay, and sold them as a pair of kid's beds.

Snow had hip surgery after the season ended.I read he's gonna try and argue that his salary shouldn't count against the cap.

Maybe use the argument that his surgery was career ending?

can he option himself to the minors? That way his contract wont count towards the cap....or....here's another interesting hypothetical scenario...if he plays and is GM and makes an additional salary on top of his 750 K for being GM would that count against the cap as well...

Under the CBA, any player who suffered injuries from NHL play during the previous season that prevents them from playing the following season can be put on the long-term injury list and their salary wouldn't count against the team's cap.

I suppose it will depend on how universal the 35+ age clause is. Teams may be responsible for all risks associated with signing old players, including long term injuries.

At any rate, even if Snow manages to get himself taken off the cap, it will only be for a limited period of time. The second he is cleared as healthy, he counts.

A player who is injured still counts against the cap; however, should a team exceed the upper limit, the team can replace the injured player by up to the amount of the injured player's salary.

The whole "he's injured so he doesn't count against the cap" idea is a false statement that started when no one had much of an idea what the CBA actually said and it was rumored that injured players didn't count. They do.

Quote:
Article 50.5(d)(i)

(B) From the day following the last day of Training Camp until and including June 30 of each League Year, "Averaged Club Salary" for each Club shall be calculated as the sum of the following amounts:
(1) The Averaged Amount of the Player Salary and Bonuses for that League Year for each Player on the Club's Active Roster, Injured Reserve, Injured Non Roster and Non Roster; plus

(a bunch of other stuff)
The Isles won't hit $44 million in cap dollars, so it's going to be a non-issue. Snow is going to count against the cap if he plays, doesn't play because he's GM, doesn't play because he's hurt, or drops dead in a freak relish incident at the hot dog vendor's cart next week.
