If the player had his back turned to Cousins the entire time, then I have no problem with it. However, I was at the game and the player turned his back at the last second. There was no way Cousins could have let up. Seriously, players need to be held accountable if they put themselves in a vulnerable position to get hurt. These last minute turns are something the OHL needs to address as well.
Well there has been no news to state how long but SSM play Wed will check to see if Nik is in the lineup. Only read yahoo where it said he out indefinitely.

Hopefully the OHL will give Cousins a fair shake

Quote:
Skating behind his own net, the Knights Tommy Hughes appeared to turn just before a forechecking Cousins made contact with him. Hughes wasn’t seriously injured and, in fact, his shot late in the game was redirected in by Alex Broadhurst for the OT winner.

Quote:
I’m thinking a three-game suspension makes sense for Cousins’s offence.

But honestly, considering how the thought of having Cousins’s name engraved on the Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy is likely too much for this league to bear, would it surprise you if Cousins was slapped with a longer penalty?

Long enough to jeopardize his chances of winning the scoring crown?

Years ago, I used to believe things like that never happened.

But the OHL has become a very political entity.

And too often we’ve seen this image-before-all league implement punishment differently, depending on the status of the player or players involved
.

Quote:
And so now the OHL must decide what to do about suspending Cousins, who, with the Soo having two games in hand on Sarnia, just might be this league’s next scoring champion.

Boy, doesn’t that represent a scary situation for a league that prides itself over what it considers a pristine reputation?

Productive Junior and ECHL scorer. No/limited success in AHL. He certainly should get an opportunity to play top 6 minutes in Adirondack.

I never understand why we trade a turd for another teams turd much rather trade the turd for a later pick.

There's a huge difference between a saint and a player carrying a trunkful of minor-league baggage.

And I think I'm in the minority holding this position about Rinaldo / Cousins / Downie.

Both are in the last year of there deals. Testwuide obviously had no future here. They traded an AHL 4th liner for a former 2nd rounder who has produced some nice offensive numbers at lower levels. If you haven't noticed the Phantoms suffer from a serious lack of offensive talent. You give a guy a two month trial and see what you got. And who's giving up a pick for Mike Testwuide, let alone Mike Testwuide who's a fee agent at the end of the year?

Ya i know i deleted that comment sorry about that i just find it hard to believe that a kid who signed a ELC going to make some good coin when he makes the team would be so stupid and do something that could mess that up.

I get that. I consistently find the decisions that some athletes make "hard to believe", but they do make them. Every day you hear about an athlete making an unbelievably stupid or questionable decision, many of them being decisions that get them charged with / convicted of a crime.

No matter how unbelievable a story may be though, you just can't accuse a **** victim of crying wolf. Not unless you have some seriously credible inside info about the case.

Hopefully you understand that; I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and deleting my post "quoting" yours.

While its definitely a possibility, it's better to reserve your judgements till after the trails when we have all the facts.

What sucks is that in cases like these, we'll usually never have all of the facts. There are always loose ends that never seem to be tied, and I have a feeling if Cousins is cleared, he will still carry that stigma over his head. There is always doubt.

A contract for a contract, with a marginal chance the acquired player ever turns into a solid roster player in the AHL, is the best you could actually get for a constant scratch on (one of) the weekest AHL roster(s). Testwuide has been the Phantoms "Jody Shelley" for the entire season. Enough said.

Here's an article regarding the Wahl acquistion if anyone is of interest:

http://therinkreport.blogspot.com/20...-wahl-226.html

Quote:
Wahl, acquired yesterday in the deal that sent Mike Testwuide to Calgary, is expected to arrive in Glens Falls later Tuesday and join his new team for practice Wednesday at the Glens Falls Recreation Center.

That practice will represent Wahl’s first formal introduction to many of his new teammates, though the center will instantly recognize Harper’s face. The two forwards are Southern California natives who played for the same youth hockey organization, though their birth years divided them between individual teams.

“He played on the California Wave ’90 team,” Harper said. “I was on the ’89 team. We grew up together and he’s a real nice kid. I skate with him in the summers. … He’s just a skilled forward that can help us.”

Wahl, 23, is a former second-round draft pick who has never able to crack the AHL in Calgary’s system, and had spent most of his three-year pro career in the ECHL. He had 59 points in 45 games with Utah this season, and was displaying the skills that made him one of the Western Hockey League’s top scorers in his final season of junior hockey for the Spokane Chiefs, 2009-10. There, he recorded 96 points in 72 games.

“I played against him in Spokane when he played in the WHL and I was in Everett,” Harper said after the Phantoms practiced Tuesday morning. “He did really well on their power play. He has a real good shot.”

How long does a player have to wait to find out how long they are suspended for in the OHL? This hit Cousins did seems like it happened over a week ago.

It happened Friday night; the league announced today that he's suspended for 4 games (including the one he already sat out).

With the Flyers struggling why don't they bring up players from the AHL like Wellwood and Bourdon, both these guys have a lot of speed.

Bourdon can't. He still has some pretty bad concussion problems.

Bourdon isn't exactly a speedster either. He's an average skater that's pretty solid physically.
