Te'o goes in the 2nd to TB Eifert goes to GB in the 1st
If Jennings is franchised (it is still being considered, which, honestly, is surprising), good luck to anyone stopping Rodgers passing to Eifert, Jennings, Jones, Nelson, Cobb, and maybe even Reggie Bush.
Bears are in a world of hurt. Offense both tackles need replacing. Defense too many old guys need replacing who may have only a few more years left in the tank. Good enough to get you near the playoffs. Good enough to prevent a high draft pick.
Eifert can block and is smarter than the chair I'm sitting in. Two things I can't say about Finley.
Here are my thoughts on Finley:
am going to go on a little rant here. It's about Jermichael Finley and everything sorrounding him. I am starting to think my Packers need to move on from the guy soon and pay Greg Jennings with his money instead of paying for potential, not consistent production.
Finley was taken in the third-round of the draft by us in 2008. He caught a few balls his rookie season. All you heard about going into 2009 was his freakish athletic ability. He had a great 2009. It was looking as though with proper development (not a concern in Green Bay), he could become one of the better tight ends in the NFL within a few years. After showing a lot of promise, his Twitter use and his "YOTTO" phrase took over. "YOTTO" stands for "Year of the Take Over". Well, he tore his MCL in 2010. "YOTTO" was put on hold. He then managed to find a way to cause a distraction during the two-week break between the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl by showing his disagreement with the team photo and how guys on IR weren't originally in the photo. He showed his displeasure through Twitter. All the guy does is run his mouth. He is just a dumb person, too. He was quoted during the preseason (which he always magically is injured for) before we actually did go to the Super Bowl by making a prediction, saying "I've got one word for y'all: Dallas, Texas Super Bowl, baby". Yeah, J-Mike, that's one ****ing word. He just runs his mouth on Twitter about how he is going to break out with his Year of the Take Over and all this other dumb crap. He also likes to drop balls. His excuse was that he and Rodgers don't have chemistry, which caused a local media stir. His contract was also probably a distraction. Well, the guy, now with a two-year deal, dropped three balls and had a fumble last week and had a couple critical drops Week 1, picking up right where he left off when he was awful (like everyone else) against the Giants in the Divisional Round. The guy has been a joke. It is now apparent he has also had people accompany him that also don't know when to shut their ****ing mouths. His agent criticized Rodgers' ability to lead.
"Jay Cutler, u serious in ur press conf last night?U sound like a 6 yr old who just had his animal crackers taken. Quit being a [expletive], own up," Baratz tweeted, adding: "There's a major difference & drop off in leadership from Manning, Brees, Brady, to the next best QB's in the league. Cutler doesn't get it."
When asked why he didn't include Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on his leadership list, Baratz tweeted:
"ARod is a great QB he isn't a great leader. There's a major difference. Leaders take the blame & make every1 better. He doesn't."
Has Finley said anything about how he disagrees with his agent's off-the-reservation comments, how he and the quarterback have a good relationship, and how he values him as a leader? No. The guy is truly a dumb person, is all about potential, shows his freakish ability but follows it with horribly-timed drops and/or fumbles, and causes distractions every single season.
Cut/release him after the season and use that money to pay Greg Jennings, the number one receiver, who actually shows up to play when he is on the field, is pretty tough, has actually earned a bigger deal, was an integral part of winning a Super Bowl, and is a model citizen that is respected and loved be teammates and fans.
I am honestly going to be sick if Ted Thompson doesn't try to trade Finley and release him if they fail to reach a deal and let Jennings go to the highest bidder after the season.
I think I am on board the Tavon Austin hype train. O-line needs to be addressed somehow though.
I think I am too, but that makes addressing the OL in the 2nd round a must. Won't do any good how fast he can run if he and Cutler don't have the time for him to get beyond the secondary. WR is probably the position we have the least need for, but damn would that be an exciting offense. Even with a mediocre offensive line, they'd be elite.
I can't really decide if I'm on board with Austin in the 1st round until I see what happens in free agency. We need OL help more than we need WR help at this point, though that could change in free agency and even out a little bit more.
