The only thing that would make sense is if either Gionta or Cole goes in the trade. You'd be dumping salary for a UFA. Which is pretty damn good for a guy who can score. 6 goals 19 games, he'd be 2nd in goal scoring for our team.
But having a good season. I don't see the Canadiens doing that
Thats possible, I also know of a couple of his cousins and a couple more friends who tweeted this a few times. Im also stead20 on twitter if thats the course you seen.
I'm not sure how I'd feel about Ryder. Depends on the return. I'm not sure if I'd be willing to give up Cole's big body presence even if he is slumping, especially with Bourque injured. If it is Gionta, I'd be pretty pumped though I do think some posters here have a point about trading your captain mid-season. To be honest, we need to be a bit colder when looking at trades and such, because we need to look at what's best for the CH now, and losing Gionta/Cole's contract might put us in the running for a good FA and improve our team now with scoring depth. But like I said, I don't think Ryder for Cole would be good for us.
3.5 cap hit for the year and UFA this summer.
They likely wont ask for a lot.
Rumour has it that a friend of the Ryder family told this guy on twitter from Newfoundland that Ryder had been traded to Montreal. Pure speculation. Hilarious if this ends up being true.
From a purely cap standpoint is a very good deal. Even last year Ryder almost matched Cole's numbers though he isn't as physical.
I'm really on the fence about the deal. I guess it depends on wether Cole finishes strong or not and what MB does comparatively with the cap room(go after a big name). Maybe he figures there will be a few bargains this summer with Compliance Buyouts.
So now that we have 6 picks in the first three rounds, and thus far picks have seemed to hold quite a bit of value this season, has anyone changed their stance on whether they want the Habs to be buyers or stand pat? If we are still going strong at the deadline and a Gagne like deal of a high potential reclamation project for a pick/conditional pick I think we should go for it. If we can get a Jagr or Hainsey is available for a reasonable price we should be all over it.
Assuming Perry isn't signed by the deadline. I'm thinking we offer the Hossa-esque package with Eller as the centerpiece. Yeah, it would suck to lose him but Anaheim has long coveted a center and I'm guessing they insist his inclusion.
Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Perry
Gallagher - Plekanec - Ryder
Prust - Desharnais - Gionta
Moen - White - Armstrong
