I know MacT (who apparently made the trip) is a big fan of his too.

I still have a hard time believing Couturier is on the block, or that the Oilers have the ability to even make a trade for a player like that.

In my mind Eberle is not available unless a better young player is coming the other way. I'm a big Couturier fan, but he isn't that guy.

If Carter was traded for 1st + Voracek, Couturier could probably be had for 1st + Gagner/Klefbom

I would say to him, can't we get a centre just as good in the top 10 this year and not give up Eberle at all?

Monahan or Barkov at least, and who knows whether one of them fall. Of course, no one expects them to, but I'm willing to bet one of them is there at 6-10.

And I think we all know the likelihood of us picking that high is....

Eberle is coming off a 35 goal 76 point campaign. I reealllly like Couturier ALOT. But that is a bit steep of a price.

Ya, truthfully I would be more shocked that the Oilers would be able to make a deal for him than the fact he's actually available, which is saying quite a bit because they seem to like him.

Look at the flyers on capgeek.com and they are hard pressed to the cap with it coming down they got allot of long term deals already tied up.

Couturier is an RFA in 2014/15 and will want a big payday

You never know???
They need D help right now and have a tonne of C's. Petry is cheap top 4 guy and Klef is highly touted and would instantly become their #1 prospect who could step in next year. I don't know if Tambo has the stones to pull off that kind of move.

While I still find it pretty hard to believe Couturier gets moved, having G and Schenn down the middle with Laughton (perfect 3rd line C) and Cousins in the wings makes them consider it potentially.

The more I think about it the Flyers are set down the middle with 1C - Giroux and 2C - Schenn going forward.....

Sooner or later Couturier will be missed cast as there 3rd line centre a spot Talbot fits them well.

One can only dream of the following 2 lines going forward.

Hall Nugent-Hopkins Yakupov
Gagner Couturier Eberle

Everyone wants to move Gags out but I think he is better suited on the wing.

Or you find a big body in the draft for that LW side. (Nichushkin)

I don't know. Maybe I'm just souring on Eberle lately.

If there was an interesting + with Couturier, I feel myself leaning toward doing it.

Gotcha, fair enough.

Petry + Belanger + 1st?

Would have to more than Courturier, our first looks valuable at the moment

Would LOVE to land Couturier, but like others have said...I doubt he's available. And if he is, the price is probably too much for us (one of the big 5). I have no problem moving our 1st (which should be high) + for him, but that doesn't really help Philly. They want to win now. Also, I'm assuming they're trying to drop salary after picking up Gagne for a pick from LA. Not sure who that would be. Hmmm

Couturier and Simmonds for Eberle is a trade I make every day of the week.

What about everyone else?

Any way they may be targeting a Paajarvi and Hartikainen combo?

Yakupov for Couturier + B. Schenn

Philly says no and doesn't make any sense as they just acquired Luke Schenn, but man our center depth would just get way better!!! I'd miss Yak though.

or maybe something like

Yakupov + Gagner + Whitney for Couturier + L. Schenn + B.Schenn

need tweaks though

This yeas 1st rd pick cannot repeat CANNOT be in play. The draft is arguably the best it's been in years better then any of the 3 years that the Oil selected 1st overall. According to some scouts.

Moving our 2014 1st by all means..... Go ahead.

I would too. Than move Hemsky/Gagner for a top 4 d-man and this team looks a lot better in a hurry.

Sounds like quite a few teams are interested. From the Philly boards:

'Scouts from the Wild, Flames, Blue Jackets, Coyotes, Jets, Blackhawks, Oilers, Stars, Canadiens, Red Wings and Lighting are here in Philly.
6:57pm - 27 Feb 13"

It would be really stupid of us to trade yakupov now.
