What about Nashville? They have a tremendously deep defense and are always on the lookout for offense. I'd add a pick to Morrow to get Blum out of there.
My suggestion isn't about what I want. Based on the Ryder trade, GMJN's comments they'll be active in trade discussions, and GMJN's comments about how they'd handle the 2012 trade deadline last year makes me think flipping another UFA for help now is a possibility.

Unfortunately ... I'd too love some future assets for Morrow, but I think that's probably doubtful so given the option of watching him walk away for nothing it'd be nice if they could get anything useful for him.

So when does Robidas get moved for being small? Just thought about that after hearing GMJN talk about how important Cole's size was compared to Ryder. I think there's enough evidence to support the idea that GMJN takes the bigger is better philosophy as a deciding factor on moves he makes.

Is there a chance for a hockey trade with Robi? Someone looking for less money and a right shot with a bigger D come back to Dallas.

What about Andrej Meszaros? I brought it up in the off-season. The savings for next season ($700K) may not be enough for Phili, but it would make some sense for Dallas to get younger and bigger. Despite recent injuries last season, and one he's coming off of now, Andrej has played 81 or more games in 5 of his 7 seasons. Phili could benefit from the right shot and chemistry Robi has with Grossmann.

Once Whitney gets back and Cole is settled in- WOW our forward lines look lethal.

Hopefully GMJN is able to acquire an actual defenseman in the near future and we may find ourselves in the playoffs.

So coming off of 3 games in 4 nights + travel last night, I guess there won't be a practice today.

Hopefully we'll still get an injury update, but I was looking forward to seeing if they tried Cole at LW or let him stick at RW.

I never considered Deryk Engelland before in Pittsburgh, but he could be a good target for Dallas with Brenden Morrow.

He's only playing 13 minutes a night in Pittsburgh, and they have young D to replace him. His contract is so good for them though ... they might not trade him, but he could be a decent return for Morrow.

The other major factor would be you'd think Pittsburgh would be one of the teams Morrow would waive his NTC for. That's going to be the biggest stumbling block to moving him.

Are you kidding me? Engelland? No. He is a #7.

You're not getting a Top 4 D for Morrow IMO, and he's not a 7th D in Pittsburgh. Probably wouldn't be in Dallas either.

First off, Pittsburgh is not going to trade their serviceable bottom pair enforcer-type Dman when their roster is softer than my butt.

Second off, I don't think Engelland has enough value to even sniff Morrow's. I don't expect a top 4 D-man, but this is selling horribly low.

We may want to do good by our cap'n and get good value for him, but he clearly is not going to command much. Therefore, in all likelihood, I expect Morrow to not be sold.

I'm not in any way against giving up Robi. But people mention teams needing a right shot D. Well, we send him packing and we will desperately need a right shot D as well. It would leave Larsen as the only D in the system with anywhere close to near-term NHL potential that's a right shot. So maybe figure out a way to get a young RD coming back for someone else like Morrow if Robi is shipped out.

Franson could be available in Toronto, but Morrow probably doesn't get it done even though I mentioned him recently.

The guy's big, but he has the same defensive issues that plague Dallas' D. He's just a potential upgrade on the PP. He does have a big shot.

Yeah I'd rather have a guy with little offensive ability and more solid defensively than Franson even though they could use a good PP D guy.

I remember awhile back a Jets fan here or on the trade board suggested Dillon for Postma(young 6'3" right shot D) because they need left shot D..obviously that won't happen but is there anything we'd be willing to give up for him that they might need? I doubt they'd have a want for Morrow or Robidas.

This is my friend's opinion on Engellend (he's a Pittsburgh fan)

Sounds like a guy we'd go after then.

That's not the opinion of all Pen's fans. Some are reluctant to trade thim, and we all know fan opinion means little. Dallas fans as a whole hate Rome, but Dallas values him, and he was playing key minutes for Gulutzan.

Yes, obviously I understand that however if you've ever watched Engellend play he is a #7 Defenseman at best. Not someone who I'd trade Morrow for since we have plenty of guys capable of playing a 3rd pairing/7th role.

Yeah I'd rather get back a 3rd than watch Engellend spare it up. We've got enough of our own guys who can be bad on the backend and I'd rather not pay to add to that.

Apparently we're scouting the Philly/Washington game.

We scouted the Flyers a couple nights ago as well.

Bring in the Schenns!

(Seriously, how funny would it be if we had the Schenns and Benns all on the ice at the same time? )

Who else would Joe have his eye on? Timonen? Coburn?

....Grossmann?
