Erik Cole was great for us last year, and very well may have gotten back on track this year, nevertheless, I am very happy with the deal. Sad to see so many of you prove that you are pathetic fans. Erik Cole should be respected for the player he is.

Personal income tax is more complicated than this, and takes into account which country you reside in most of the year, and if you reside in the US it becomes a blending of tax rates for the jurisdictions where you play.

Not sure what to make of this trade. I understand that we created cap space, but besides the fact that we probably won't get Perry, the rest of the free agent class is pretty weak (Getzlaf is a huge question mark and Iginal is slowing down). So what exactly are we creating cap space for? Secondly, if the Canadiens did want to trade Cole for hockey reasons, wouldn't we have been able to fetch more? I mean, wouldn't a team like San Jose, Detroit or Colorado have given up a decent prospect for a proven veteran 30goal scorer? This way we get a young player with upside as oppposed to a player we'll probably let go at season's end.

Risky move. If Bergevin is unable to use the money saved on Cole and probably Kaberle next year on a prime winger like Perry, it would create a huge hole on the wing. And Cole was the sole true Power Forward on this team; Max Pac isn't there yet -- he doesn't rush the net with the same autorithy as Cole.

Beside scoring Goals on the Power Play, Ryder is not as good as Cole in any other aspect of the game.

Not a bad trade by any means, but risky.

Not sure about that. Ryder won't be as reliable as Cole in his own zone, and won't be as agressive as Cole in his forechecking, and won't be as good as Cole to back up the d-man that is pinching in as wanted in Therrien's agressive system.

And it is also risky for next year, creating a huge hole to fill on the wing. Sure Bergevin can use the cape space to sign a good winger, but it is never a given and you could end up empty handed.

You are right there are no guarantees, but MB may re-sign Ryder and shave a million off the cap hit for a player of similar output. Who knows what he intends.

The draft pick was gravy for me.

"Reliable" and "Erik Cole in his own zone", two things that should never be in the same sentence. Unless "reliable" is preceded by "un".

To you Erik

I know the song is gay but the lyrics are pretty accurate for the situation.

Mmmm... Cole is way more reliable in his own zone than Ryder is.

Haven't really had Internet access for the past week but I'm not too sure on the trade on account that Erik Cole is THE "character veteran" of our team and he drove to the net like few others in the league.

His contract was gonna be scary in its later years but he was picking it up this year and his play wasn't so bad.

The 3rd is interesting, Ryder is going to look weird back on the Habs. It's just an awkward trade on all accounts.

Why can't we trade fn Gionta!!

Why do people bring up subban in the Cole trade? Am I missing something?

If the team looked at him as a "character veteran", then this trade makes all the more sense.

Especially since the young kids on this team saw Cole skating at half speed for most of the game. They did not need to learn how to play half-assed and still have a spot on the team.

Anyone hear from Cold Play today?

I heard he's taking this trade really hard. Cold Play, if you are reading this, just wanted to let you know that we're all here for you buddy.

Trust me it'll get easier. The sun isn't set forever.

Edit: doh, post 115, how could I miss you

Not many people here bringing up the fact that Ryder is a right handed shot, which we all know are hard to come by. Montreal definitely came out winners in this trade. Good luck to both Ryder and Cole

We have another right hand shot who plays on the PP in Montreal: Bryan Gionta. And he mainly sucks on the PP.

Sport is pretty heartless sometime. Fans craps on you if you have a bad streak never mind that you did good stuff not so long ago. And teams trade you on a whim.

I wish Cole all the luck, I just hope it will be a while before he's traded again for him and his family. I'll be watching the Stars a lot more.

Still a stupid ****ing trade. This team is in first, you want to add a player, fine. Don't subtract it. What do the Habs need at the trade deadline? A big winger. FFS.
