So far this year, teams in the Western Conference have a combined 44 points earned from Overtime Losses (the "loser point"). Comparatively, teams in the Eastern Conference have had far fewer games go into OT, and have only 24 "loser points" in the conference.
With teams not playing out-of-conference games this season, Western Conference teams have generated 20 more points in the standings than Eastern Conference teams have.
- Is the disparity between good teams and bad ones bigger in the East?
- Is the fact that one league scores more goals a factor? The Eastern teams have a combined 806 goals scored for, whereas the West have 747.
The refs dropped the puck horribly on the 3rd goal. Leafs are piiiiiiiised.
I kinda feel bad for the ref. It seems like his mind went blank for a second and he dropped the puck anyways.
Almost like "Oops forgot to drop the puck *drops it late*" and Bozak thought "oh he wants us to reset".
What makes it worse is the Leafs seem incapable of dealing with set plays once they lose a faceoff (so the bad puckdrop has an immediate and HUGE impact on the game at a bad time - latter half of the 3rd). Second time in recent memory where there's a point shot off a face off win and a guy just goes to the net and scores a goal (Greening, Gallagher).
I mean it happens - unfortunately for this ref the end result was REALLY REALLY bad for one team.

Bozak should have just played though. No point whining to the refs waving ur hands. How many times has that worked to get the ref to do a 'do over'? Nothing pisses me off more then seeing guys stop to whine instead of just playing.
Habs are impressing the hell outta me. Very likable team except for the coach lol. Therrien's doing something right though!
Gallagher is going to be one of the most hated players by other teams fans and players very very soon. Love the kids intensity. He knows his strengths and his limitations and sticks to his game. Love seeing little guys like him make it.

Good game for my fantasy team, Pacioretty with 2 goals and Price with the win. Now I am banking on Fasth to win.
