Fan 960 saying he will be going to Abbotsford, not Calgary.

A minor league trade.

Better he than Ben Eager.

Wasn't he just on waivers?

Why not claim him

The Flames have 49 players under contract. The limit is 50.

You don't want to add a contract spot for a player like McGrattan. This way the Flames are no closer to the contract limit.

And they can send him to the AHL (which they did).

Five years from now, we will point to this trade as the reason why the Flames turned things around.

I thought it was getting MacDonald off waivers or throwing Irving back to Abbotsford.

People will be earning PhDs trying to get these questions sorted out.

The consensus is that he was held back with Tom Renney. He performed his role adequately before he went down with a concussion. For two and a half periods. hahah

But I'd rather have Hordichuk get his face smashed in than Eager. Eager can still be a good hockey player.

What's the skinny on Joe Piskula? I'm guessing Weber and Josi's jobs are safe....

Well we lose mcGrattan for an ahl dman. The Admirals' defense has been letting in tons of goals lately. minor league move only it seems. oh well.

In the games I saw him play in Abbotsford, Piskula played sound responsible defense. He should do well in the coolest AHL jersey.

He was already in the AHL with Milwaukee, Bob McKenzie said that Calgary will likely call him up now after sending someone else down.

I've always been curious how discussions go when two very subpar players are being traded for each other.

Feaster: What do you want for McGrattan?

Poile: A bag of pucks.

Feaster: Okay, here's Joe Piskula.

Poile: Okay.

It's a weird trade, but both teams had a minor need and addressed it. Calgary wanted an enforcer, they got probably the best fighter in the league, one that's known for being well-liked in every room he's played in.

Milwaukee's defense is taking on water lately, so the Predators got a decent minor league defenseman to help out.

Not every trade has to have some NHL ripple to it.
