I find that Leaf fans tend to overrate their prospects more so than any other fan base. I made this exact same proposal a few weeks back and got laughed at by Leafs fans.

Now this might actually work. Both players are late 1st round picks. Both are wingers. Both have similar size and have put up similar stats in the AHL and NHL. Neither guy can skate particularly well or use his size to his advantage. And they both seem to be lacking confidence.

They're the exact same player.

Just because a bunch of flames fans say they'd do this deal doesn't make it fair.
Colborne is just a better prospect and this makes no sense for the Leafs

Basically this. I'm a Flames fan, right now Nemisz has literally zero value. Colborne might have a little more but his value has definitely been decreasing yearly.

I fail to see how a stats line of

36 GP 1 G 5 A 6 PTS

is similar to

49 GP 9 G 21 A 30 PTS

Coming from Boston to Toronto and a bit after that I found Colborne to be very overrated. I saw labels thrown around such as "blue chip prospect" and scratched my head. I don't think he'll ever be a consistent NHL player.

He doesn't seem to have the drive.

There are players that I list as 'winners' and he is not one of them.

This is not in the least a player bash, or that he will not make it/succeed/etc. And even some star players are in that list of mine....Sometimes useful players, but they better be great in a certain area to make up for their lack of determination.

Ashton is a great skater. It's his offensive IQ I'm worried about. He'll likely make the pros eventually but in a pker/grinder role.

That is most likely where Nemisz ends up as well, he can play all 3 forward positions is solid defensively and can pk. He just doesn't have much of an offensive upside.

Rather see what we have in colborne due to our surplus of prospects on the wing
