Hamstrings can be tricky. If he's out 3 weeks, thats almost his entire spring training.

Yeah, that would definitely suck but Castro is one of those guys you could wake up at 3:30 in the morning, give him a bat and watch him get a knock for you. I don't think he needs spring training as much as most players do.

So the MLB Network came out with their top 100. Sale was 56, Castro was 52, and Konerko was 33.

Trout was 1

Konerko 33? He had a nice season last year, but hell, I'd take Sale or Castro over him even if we're just talking about the 2013 season. Doesn't really walk much, you're lucky to get 30+ bombs out of him, and who knows if he'll hit .250 or .300+. Not to mention he turns 37 next week.

Agreed, but they said they used the last 3 seasons to come up with the list. I thought Castro should get some more respect but that's prolly cause I'm a Cubs fan. Jeter was 53

1 Trout
2 Verlander
3 Cabrera
4 Kemp
5 Kershaw
6 Braun
7 F. Hernandez
8 Cano
9 Votto
10 Hamilton

Castro gets a lot of his value from positional scarcity and youth, that doesn't necessarily get reflected on "best player" lists. Not to mention, people think he's some bumbling idiot at SS.

I don't understand people's fixation with the jumbotron at baseball games.

Oh, hey, let's look at who's birthday it is and show the guy who's at the plate right now twirling his bat around in a pre-recorded video instead of watching the game.

Len Casper was on the Score today raving about Soler and Baez. Says he hasn't seen any prospect like them in the 9 years he's been doing Cubs games. Said Baez hit a ball yesterday as hard as he's ever seen anyone hit a ball but was actually higher on Soler. Said Soler has the prototype right fielder body with tremendous power (compared him to Cliff Floyd).

Also said BJax's swing is completely different, said it looks like a carbon copy of the swing Rizzo came back with after his failed year in San Diego. Their plan for him is just like Rizzo, absolutely will start in Iowa and if he tears it up, will be called up later in the year.

Mentioned Junior Lake looks good too and will get a lot of play in Iowa this year.

Baez hit a ball at Dee Gordon and Gordon jumped out of the way because he would have gotten drilled.

I'm not sure who or even which thread we were talking about it, but it was about rooftop tickets... Just got an email from Living Social for $99 tix, all you can eat and drink.

I have season tickets. Tailgating is a lot of fun in the North Lot, depending on the weather.

Catholic 7 starting next season, adding Butler+Xavier, and keeping Big East name, bawse.

Also adding Creighton, Dayton, and SLU in 2014.

Dont know if this was posted before. John Sickles did a nice breakdown of the Cubs 2013 prospects.

Good read, Sickles is one of the best in business. Would love Baez to turn out like Shef and the comparisons do seem valid, his bat speed is off the charts.
