That's reasonable ... but Dallas doesn't do reasonable. Fraser scored a goal on that line, and then was moved off the very next game.

I'm OK with your explanation if there was any kind of consistency with the organization. From one decision to the next .... that just doesn't seem to happen right now.

A very good point. The main vibe coming from this organisation is cluelessness.

I really have no problem with Roussel in the lineup. He's done everything that's been asked of him and he's contributing offensively. Same could be said for Garbutt. But like you said Fraser hasn't earned a demotion. He needs to play and while they can send him back to the AHL which will happen when Whitney returns, his being scratched in favor of Morrow makes me shake my head. This franchise really cannot turn the corner until Morrow is no longer here. Expect more shuffling, lineup tweaks, and general shakeups to everyone except the one line that really needs it, Morrow-Benn-Jagr. How bad do they need to be defensively before something is done?

No problem with that at all. Not on the 2nd line though.

Right ... never said he should be. Like you said, the point is Roussel is a Bottom 6 player. That's no a dirty word ... that's the reality of the situation.

I'm not worried about it. I don't think Roussel will be a long term top line solution.

In about a week, he won't be because of Whitney, but the reluctance to break up that top line is concerning.

Cole on his new line:

Quote:
“From what I’ve seen of them, they’re in the category of a couple young guys that are playing real good hockey,” Cole said. “They’re not just guys that are out there to keep the puck out of their own net. They can make plays and have a good skill set to go along with the speed. And they can play at a good pace, so it should be good.”

For sure, but would you want to incur the wrath of Mrs. Morrow?

That's pretty funny ... but I honestly don't care how they juggle it. That seems like a line that needs a bit of a shake up. If it's Jagr ... so be it. All three lines are pretty good so movement between them really isn't a demotion I guess.

Roussel did well last game up with Loui and Roy. Hopefully we see it again.

Roussel is exactly like Ott in the top 6. The hope (presumably) is that opposing forwards will be so angry at Roussel, that they will leave Roy and Eriksson, who have both been having trouble finding space, wide open where they will score hundreds upon thousands of goals.

It doesn't work. They just wait until after the whistle to settle their business with Ott/Roussel.

Guys like Ott and Roussel are at their best when they have to earn their ice team each shift. As soon as you give them a regular spot in the Top 6 they lose their effectiveness.

Good lord everyone is acting like this is some permanent thing with Roussel. Look I'm not going to defend Gully, cause I can't stand him, but Roussel played well and they're playing him there again, nothing more or less than that.

They're going to figure out what they have with Cole and figure to try to shelter him a little with the kids and hope he opens up space for them. Basically anything that can jump start Roy and Eriksson is needed so roll with it for a game or two. If it persists then we can collectively *****.

This is nothing like Ott. Ott could actually win faceoffs to justify his spot there.

Its pretty obvious he's a warm body for Whitney, and Cole's long term spot is with the kids? I wish Fraser was playing though.

I'd rather have our top-6 loaded in offensive talent than put Eriksson on the third line, with Roussel on the 2nd.

Fraser - Benn - Jagr
Eriksson - Roy - Cole
Smith - Eakin - Roussel
Nystrom - Fiddler - Garbutt

Morrow scratched

Once Whitney gets back bump Eriksson to the 1st line and put Whitney with Roy and Cole. I don't see how Smith and Fraser both stay up with morrow still here.

Yes and Yes.

Larsen is considered day to day. Rome is out 3 to 6 weeks, but Nieuwy said closer to 6.

GO STARS!

Excited to see Cole in uniform tonight. Hopefully, we can avoid a letdown against a very beatable team.

Rant

I hate weather delays going to have to rush and will be late from dfw to aac now. Anybody travelled 114 to 183 to 35 before? Looks like the best route.
