This is pathetic. I hate to blame Nolan for this but it seems like as soon as he gets there management is shaken up. Kind of reminiscent of his Buffalo years.

You know reading my list of stupids and reading my Lesnar story....and reading about the Isles office destruction today...

Stupidity in sports could be a good subject for a website.

Wow Darth Milbury strikes again.........The Darth & Garth Show, "lets make a deal".

to any Islander fans looking for an answer, Hab fans can relate to your pain, we had the Reggie & Mario "how to destroy a team show" to live through.

BTW wasn't N. Smith the only person in the org with his name on the cup. I know Trottier does but I'm not sure what his job was.

Islanders board...

Wow...Wang had a radio interview yesterday...here's what the interview said ( took this on the Isles board) :

I was very impressed with Russo, he handled Wang very well. I personally think he made Wang look like a fool. Here are the main things we learned.

1: Wang knows nothing about hockey. In one of the scenarios he presented to Russo, he said "if we were to look for someone who is a heavy scorer." If he is going to try and be a member of the hockey world- at least learn the lingo. This was just an insult to all of us who love the game. (Memo to Wang: They are goal scorers, never in my life have I heard of someone who is a heavy scorer.)

2: He has no credible friends in the hockey world. When asked, the only name he could throw out was Bill Torrey. Torrey is a very credible hockey guy, but I am highly skeptical he talks to Wang on any sort of basis. This was the only name Wang could throw out, which is very scary. This is the man who is heading our organization!

3: Garth Snow has no business being GM. This is the NHL, no one learns on the job. But Wang made every indication that Snow will be learning how to do the day-to-day duties of a GM while on the job. With the help of the other members of the inner-circle.

4: Wang is taking a big risk and thinks he is reinventing the wheel. Yet, a model like this has been tried- as Russo said- and did not work in sports. There is a slight chance it could work, but I seriously doubt it.

It sure looks funny (to say the least), but hey, we don't know Snow.

Bobby Clarke and Serge Savard are the only two (If I recall correctly) who became GM directly after retired as players. And they did a good job isn't it? So who knows? Wang sure looks weird and out of place, but Snow may be intelligent enough for the job. We'll see. If he is surrounded by good business people and can take only care of hockey matters, he may be adequate. No farther than here, Gainey isn't the one negociating contracts (I can't recall the guys' name). he may be the one dictating the "architecture" of the salary total, but he's no business man. And it's Timmins who's in charge of the scouting. So if Snow is intelligent enough to surround himself that way, we may be surprised.

What the Islanders have done in recent memory..

that made me chukkle..

- Traded away Roberto Luongo and Olli Jokinen for Mark Parrish and Oleg Kvasha.
- traded Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan McCabe and 3rd round selection (Jarkko Ruutu) Vancouver Canucks for Trevor Linden.
- drafted Rick Di Pietro #1 overall when they had Luongo
- offered Di Pietro a 15 year contract (still makes me laugh)

anything else I should add to the list?

- Traded Damian Rhodes & Wade Redden to Ottawa for Bryan Berard, Don Beaupre and Martin Straka (1996). Then they traded away Berard to Toronto for Felix Potvin (1999?).

Does anyone think that maybe there was a conflict between Smith and Ted Nolan. If I"m not mistaken I think he didnt get along with Muckler in Buffalo. I think he wants to run the show where ever he goes and likes to get his gms fired. How can you hire a gm and fire him a month later?

The worst part is that by trading Luongo he passed on Dany Heatley to pick Dipietro.

Bobby Clarke and Serge Savard both members of HHOF, both team captains and winners of multiple Stanley Cup's.
