I can't tell if you're trying to present this fact as a negative or just a matter of fact statement.

Canada is the top producer of talent in the entire sport. You tend to try and recurit the best players possible. If that is your ultimate goal, you're going to end up with some Canadians on the roster.

It's just matter of fact.

OK cool. I wasn't sure. WCHA hockey is my favorite to watch, and part of that is the big number of Western Canadians in the league. WHL is still the most exciting, physical hockey IMO for junior age players, but the WCHA is up there. Because of where I live though, I see a ton more WCHA games than WHL.

They were still looking at logo designs after that had been around for 3 or 4 months.

Dallas had the Star/Shield logo before the playoffs ended last year. It's just a graphic created in-house. Nothing to do with new logo.

The Colorado Rockies became the New Jersey Devils and dropped blue red and yellow for red and green, and so on. Had we became the Dallas Longhorns and dropped the green gold and black for say red blue and silver, Im not 100% sure I woulda remained a fan. And I believe our fan base has more carryover fans than all the others.

We still own the same basic color scheme and theres nothing wrong with dipping in to our history. It doesnt need to be considered some kind of ode to Minnesota or anything. Just taking advantage of whats ours.
SPOT ON.

Carry over happens when there is something, anything really, that the former city can hold on to. What could Winnepeg hold dear to their hearts when they became the Coyotes? There was nothing there that reminded them of "their" time.

The jerseys worn the last year before the team moved to Dallas, and especially the logo, remained largely the same.

While there isn't a need or an obligation that franchises should have to pay 'homage' to their history, should they be considerate and keep things largely the same, there is a much better chance that fans from that region will still follow the team, having a distant sense of loyalty.

Yup. And once you go away from it, you can't go back. We're at a nice balance where we have old fans in one hand, new ones in the other. Why mess with that?

In chat this week, Heika mentioned the league has the prototype, and the team is awaiting approval.

And then we have to approve it, right?

Last update we had said we probably wouldn't get to see it until after the season.

I was just kidding about the "we have to approve it" thing. I wish we did though.

See if I didn't bump this thread we would've never found out about that little bit lol.

Really hope they decide to show it off after it's approved. Or at least the logo
