Either way, that top 5 pick was in play and we could have nailed it. There are a lot of different packages Montreal could have offered of comparable value, e.g. COLE+DESHARNAIS.
Tried bringing that up in the Markov thread, 98% of the replies were "Trade Markov? are you ****ing retarded?" and wouldn't even hear of the idea of at least seeing what's out there for him..
Can't win with people
Markov for Calgary's first would be a no brainer for us. I can't believe Calgary would be that stupid though. And Markov would have to agree... I don't know why he'd want to go to a place that won't win.
If they accepted though (say if we gave them back their 2nd) then yes, we'd be crazy not to do it.
I said that pick was in play last year when we dealt Cammy and this proves it. Even if we had to add something... If Colorado matches we should be all over Calgary trying to get their first.
Problem is that apart from Markov, I don't know who we have left with any value that we'd want to deal.
There is not much i *want* to give up either, but i am willing to ooffer silver for gold.
Definitely not something I'd give up. I think our shot at that first was last year. We should've included AK with Cammy. That might've got it done. Still think Cammy was worth a 1st to them esp with us taking back Bourque. The 2nd is nice but I feel like we missed the boat.
Wow, horrible, desperate, thinking about keeping his job more than the good of the team move by Feaster. Sucks for us though, Feaster will do everything he can to make sure the Flames dont finish in the bottom 10 and so the 2nd from them is likely going to go lower from this move if Avs dont match or from the moves to come. MB should at least sharpen his pencil with TT and see if any promising Flame prospects can be had should the Flames not move up in the standings. Hope Avs match.
HF ranks Calgary's farm system as 23rd overall. The NHL team is sitting 23rd overall in the league right now but could move up with RoR but they would have no picks in the first three rounds next year. Who would be coming up through the system to play with RoR because many of other forwards are getting old. Management must have more moves in mind because this one doesn't really make sense to me as stand alone deal.

Based on what I heard, Feaster wanted to rebuild. The owner won't let him.
Looked very pretty. But did you see the three Isles players bumbling around in their own zone? They all literally just stood there. The only thing he had to avoid was running into a single Dman who didn't even attempt to take the puck from him.
Reminds me of a highlight reel goal Morgan Rielly scored early this year: looked pretty, but when you looked at the D men, they really didn't do anything to stop him so getting around them was easy.
Funny part is that I often read and hear about how players can't dangle the puck the way they do in juniors and in the AHL yet...we keep seeing it. Kadri is just another example amongst tons of them.

My opinion the Isles are that they are a combination of bad hockey players and idiotic coaching. Seriously, they are yet another team that relies a lot on that stretch pass just a wee bit too much and when they aren't doing the stretch pass, it's dump-and-chase.
