So QO is qualifying offer, correct? Is it basically like ROR will get paid $3.5 million this year and then the team has a $6.5 million option on him the next year?

Help me out. Usually I'm good with this stuff, but I am kind of lost.
Yes, the flames will have to qualify him at 6.5mil if they want to keep his RFA status in 2014 offseason. If they don't qualify him for 6.5, hes a UFA.

That's going to be a ballsy decision for either team. I think that team will be Calgary.

Agreed, bridges have been burned in COL...no way they take him back after all of this.

Saad-Toews-Kane
Perry-Sharp-Hossa

BRB, gotta change my pants.
I'd go with Perry-Toews-Kane and Saad-Sharp-Hossa if I were Q.

If I were Bowman, I'd freaking deal Sharp the year after next for something good. Teuvo is going to be ready in a couple years. The same goes for Danault.

I doubt Colorado matches. Two lottery picks in the new lottery is an awesome way for Colorado to load up.

This is going to be one of those situations like the Kessel once in which one GM writes the other a thank you card in three years.

I think Perry is a better player, but you could get Getzlaf instead.

Did you sleep through the last 2 months of the lockout?

We really can't afford Perry with the cap going down and maintain a good deep roster. That will make our top 6 great, but our depth disappears and something takes a hit. I really hope we don't go for Perry.

Isn't there like a max contract of 8 years with the new CBA or something?

You can afford Perry if you deal Sharp, which I suggested beforehand.

However, if they win the Cup, just keep rolling with what you have.

Which guys? I don't think McNeil and Spiegel are too bad, but b&b are real bad.

That was McNeil and Spiegel then. I know one of them is good, the other not so much. I've never heard them say they want to launch Leddy though.

Next summer will be fun

6.5M is his qualifying offer or he is UFA

No matter how this works out he either gets what he wants next summer

Big $$$ for at least another year or complete UFA status

theoretically, the avs could wind up paying him $5.5m if they go to arbitration and the arbitrator awards him the minimum - which is 85% of his more recent salary.

If O'Reilly plays the rest of the season(30 or so games) and an entire 82 games with the Colorado Avalanche and still refuses to negotiate in good faith then he is a bigger dbag than I thought.

Still can't believe he weaseled his way into a 5 mil a year deal after scoring 55 points and 28 points the year before.

TJ Oshie signed 1 year, 2.5 mil deal after his entry level and then proved himself again and they gave him a 5 year, 4.2 mil deal.

David Perron signed a 2 year, 2.15 mil per deal after his entry level deal. He was rewarded with a 4 year, 3.8 mil per deal.

Joe Pavelski signed a 4 year, 4 mil per deal after his entry level deal.

Ryan Kesler signed a 3 year, 1.75 mil per deal and proved himself, then got a 6 year, 5 mil per deal for his efforts.

Patrick Sharp signed a 4 year, 3.9 mil per deal and earned a 5 year, 5.9 mil per deal after that.

Max Pacioretty signed a 2 year, 1.65 mil contract and then was awarded a 6 year, 4.5 mil contract that kicks in next year.

I really haven't looked very hard, but I don't remember any comparables to O'Reilly that got this much money on their 2nd contract when it was only 2 years. Ryan O'Reilly isn't a Kane, Toews, Kopitar, Backstrom, Stamkos, Tavares type player that skips the 2nd contract to go to a long term money contract. He is a baby IMO and ******** because the Avs told him his real value.
