Yeah right. Keep in mind you're talking about the guys that just went to monetary war with the owners. They're all in it for one thing and they're not going to put eachother down for trying to get more of it.

Anyone knows the exact date?

ROR better only rent his appartement only for a year....
Teams aren't going to offer much for a guy who will become a UFA if he isn't offered $6.5m.

The only real reason the Avs match this deal is if they are happy to hand him a long term deal (and believe he'll be willing to sign it) in a years time if he plays well.

Did he come out and say he didn't want to play for them? Or did he say he wanted to be paid what he thinks hes worth to play for them. And yes he is worth it as evidenced by a team offering it.

It shows that the Avs really believe he is worth what they were asking in trade... not to take the picks here that HF values ever so much

There is a really good group of RFAs coming this summer. Teams had better lock them up before Feaster 5mils half the league.

Logic says that if their demands were reasonable, he'd have already been traded. They wanted too much.

They understand that this is a business and that every guy has the right to take care of his contract. If anything, they can point to this when it's their turn to re-sign. O'Reilly's agent did a good job with the negotiation.

One of the most embarrassing management performances in the whole NHL over the last years by the Avs.

And i really like this team.

So the avs sabotaged their season, only to match this offer anyways. SMH.

There is something called team elected arbitration?
Anyone knows how that works?
Don't think that the Avs will have to offer him 6.5M

Especially a lottery pick that HF all but guarantees the Flames will end up with.

Oh, it's only a lottery pick when they're trading it? Now it's gonna be "lol Calgary is gonna finish 9th and have a sucky pick like always, NO PROSPECTS LOL FLAMES"

If I learned one thing this evening it's that Feaster is going all in this year and his 1st round pick is very much available.

The really bad part of all this? The Avs now have their own Bouwmeester. O'Reilly is a good player but now he's going to be judged at his price tag. He will quickly go from one of the most underrated players in the league to one of the most overrated.

Greg Sherman(avs gm) to talk to the media between the periods between the the Avs and Flames game. He should also fire Sacco and hire Ruff.

They mentioned that Colorado had better offers than the 1st and the 3rd earlier. Not a bad move by either team in my opinion. Both want a young player that can play now over the picks. Makes sense that Colorado would immediately match if the picks weren't enough in their eyes, get him out there playing immediately.
