So a first round pick that could be anywhere from 25+ and a 4th. Sorry man, not even close.

Sather would know better than that. Although i wouldnt be surprised if Torts would want to trade kreider for a bag of pucks since he doesnt like the kid for some reaon. Kreider would probably love playing for his hometown and also away from Torts. I have a bad feeling that we will gve up on kreider and he will go to a team like boston or the devils and become a 30 goal scorer

i think miller has played really well, and to be honest, his play warrants him staying.

I thought that JT played a very good game tonight. Agree with Inferno, I don't think they should send him down yet.

Miller's been more and more noticeable in a good way. He's earning his minutes.

I thought he played a great game too. Still think he should be sent down long enough to not trigger early free agency.

So I finally got to watch the first 10 games of the season. Kreider was MIA up until the Isles game. Miller outplayed him only because of his hustle. Didnt see a whole lot of urgency in Kreider's game, which is odd when you consider he was a workhorse against the Caps and Devils.

These cups of coffee will help both of them out in the long run.

In reality, Kreider's getting punished because of his postseason. In reality, he was playing as well as a rookie fresh out of the NCAA would have been expected to play without an NHL postseason under his belt -- nothing flashy, nothing jaw-dropping, nothing to be overly concerned about.

Very similar to Callahan in 2007-08. He was lost. Terrible. Turning pucks over, missing assignments, shooting wide 99 pct of the time.

Hope Kreider takes these moves in stride. Torts is generally an idiot but I think Kreider will appreciate the tough love in retrospect.

The entry level slide sailed long ago but if he's on the roster for a certain amount of games he gets an accrued season which would allow him to be a UFA at 26. I figure that number is about 24 games.

Well you sure as hell won't be seeing that upside come true in a Bruins uniform.

Kreider can't be a group III until he is 27 even with the first year counting in 11-12.

Very good read.

Quote:
“He’s been more consistent,” Rangers head coach John Tortorella said of Miller. “He’s made more of a difference in recent games compared to some of the guys we sent down. In the last game (against Winnipeg), I thought he found another level.”
Quote:
“He doesn’t prefer the middle,” the Rangers bench boss said. “It was hard for him (playing center). He still has a ways to go in learning how to defend as a winger too. And rightfully so, as he’s just a kid.”
Quote:
“Brian (Boyle) and I have been having some great chemistry together,” Miller said. “We’re getting our chances but we haven’t been able to put one in yet. It’s only a matter of time before we get one.”

Despite dealing with the tough learning curve, Miller’s confidence in his game has never wavered. And his head coach has noticed.

“He’s sure of himself, and he has the right type of confidence,” Tortorella said. “He makes some mistakes, but he hasn’t flattened out like some other kids might have.”

Admittedly Miller is showing enough that he could stick with the club this year. I'm still not sold 100% but he is making strides. He's definitely looked less out of place than Kreider.

i honestly dont give a crap about burning a year on his contract...if hes ready to play, why stick him in the A just to save that 1 year? What if fasttracking him turns him into a 20 year old star next year? you never know.

we fast tracked stepan and he's been our #1 center this year.

It would be another 16 or so games he would have to be down to not trigger early unrestricted free agency.

I think it would be good for him.

NYR will hold on to Kreider. Torts not being impressed with a young player and sending him to the AHL has happened before with MDZ. It wasn't an issue of the coach not liking him as a person or a player at all and the franchise was never about to give up on the guy. Torts saw a player who was struggling to keep up with the NHL game and sent him down.

Kreider hasn't had the proper amount of hustle so far this season. He's faster on his skates than most of the league. He's got incredible power and strength. He can snipe well. We haven't seen him make use of those incredible advantages with any consistency. He needs to have a fire lit under him, and demoting him is probably the best route to go about that.

I think everyone here is aware that I was the first and most fierce critic of Kreider, but let's hold our horses. He's still just barely old enough to buy beer, let him develop. All the projections of him scoring at a 20-30 goal pace this year are obviously crap, but long-term that's still very much a possibility, even a probability. There's no reason to give up on him. His speed, size and shot are still excellent. Any coach will be able to explain to him how to use those assets well enough to be at least a very good third liner.

He needs to stop trying to be Nash and KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid). Skate north, try to stretch the defense with you speed, and hope that will create an opportunity to score using your hard shot. If it fails, then use your size to drive to the net to screen the goalie and/or get garbage goals.

It's really not rocket science for Kreider to become a 20-20 player, hopefully more than that.

I still dont buy that kreider isnt working hard. In fact you can see he is working on trying to play the way Torts wants players and he has kind of sacrificed his main asset which is his offense. My one gripe with torts is that he spends way too much time on defense/blocking shots he has to open it up a little which is where i think kreider will strive. Also the ankle injury didnt help at all I've had a similar injury before and it took a while to go away. i think kreider will be back in a few weeks and will do very well after a stint in the AHL

So far doesn't have the look of being a guy the " puck seems to follow him ". I know from going from playing in a couple of leagues to once a week to only a few times a year now that hockey isn't very fun when you never have the puck on your stick . Eventually the kid will get it and become a regular NHL pro . Whether he becomes a Jason Chimera or an Erik Cole remains to be scene . The injuries and short season and expectations and moves for Nash caused some bad judgement by the NYR .
I actually side with Torts on this one .
As for comparison to JT . JT has the puck on his stick or his winning a battle every shift. Despite his occasional plays where he makes one too many moves or passes up a shot or takes a shot when he shoulda passed these are mistakes of aggression not ommission , which is what CK has been doing .

I think you are jumping the gun on kreider. He has only played 11 games also the lockout and injuries havent helped IMO. I still believe the kid is gonna be a bigtime player for us it just might not be until next year
