Somehow this thread managed to get even worse on the last page. Fleshgod Apocalypse? Devin Townsend? Suffocation albums released after 1991? "Melodic death metal" released after 1996?

Ugh, no thanks to any of that.

This is more like it.

Breeding the Spawn and Pierced from Within are solid albums. Don't be silly now

Necrophobic has a few solid albums after 1996, but yeah mostly not much worthy with that style.

Oh finally, seems Fanisk's new album finally dropped - initial impressions of it are 'not what I expect from Fanisk' but doesn't sound too bad?

This was originally released on a split with Lock Up in 2011. Can't wait to hear some more new songs from their next album. Awesome deathgrind.

I hope Adam Jarvis is still their drummer, I know he's been touring/recording with Pig Destroyer lately.

Those Riverside songs were pretty cool.

Been listening to some of the old Scorpion songs from the early 70s and they are so kick ass. Pure rock n roll You can hear so clearly how todays metal bands are influenced by them and others from those times.

I disliked Anvantasia previous albums except for a couple of songs due to how simple the songs were to create, sounded too mainstream for me and I absolutely hate mainstream-ish sound. I must admit this sounds MUCH better.

Oh and this is amazing.

I could not hear the mainstream in the previous avantasia albums
Well, except Lost in space, but even that is a great song

Just wow, what a song invoke the timemachine is. Fast and colorfull riffing. Ronnie Atkins is such an awesome singer. This song gives me some 80s GnR vibes, mixed with Tobias' sound

WTF are you talking about? Power metal is all mainstream, even if it's just you and your buddies singing about dragons in a basement.

Mainstream isn't only radio stuff. Even a lot of Black Metal is mainstream.

Power metal maybe mainstream in Europe, but far from it in America. That is why I like it.

Desepite being a poor radio rip, this sounds so amazing

You can feel the soul and emotions behind it... just wow

This could very well end up being the best metal album of the century

Virgin Steele released The House of Atreus: Act II, Absu released Tara, Agalloch released The Mantle, Portal released Seepia, Dark Tribe released In Jeraspunta - Die Rückkehr der Tollwütigen Bestie, Crimson Massacre released The Luster of Pandemonium, Katharsis released VVorld VVithout End, Reverend Bizarre released III: So Long Suckers, Dead Congregation released Graves of the Archangels, The Chasm released Farseeing the Paranormal Abysm, Ares Kingdom released Incendiary, Ascension released Consolamentum, Revelation released Inner Harbor, etc.

and that is just ONE album from each year from 2000-2012

ALL OF WHICH are better than EVERYTHING Avantasia has ever done.
