Have 3 of their albums...Core always came off as bland to me, Purple was their pinnacle and a great album. Tiny Music has grown on me.
After that Weiland's drug problems really played a role in making the band inconsistent and they dropped off my radar...wasn't even aware of further album releases after that.
Still...if there's a contract preventing band members from being dismissed and the band still using the moniker "Stone Temple Pilots" then firing Weiland is pretty stupid if they're planning to tour.

Izzy starting going goofy half way through recording thier first CD and went full nuts on their second
Izzy was fine up until he got sober when they were recording the Use Your Illusion albums. Izzy was probably the most integral part of GN'R.
14 Years
Pretty Tied Up
You Could Be Mine
Don't Cry
All great songs off of UYI that Izzy wrote. Add those to Patience, Used To Love Her from Lies, Lies, Lies. Appetite is harder to know who wrote what because they didn't give individual writing credits, but the riffs from Nightrain and Out To Get Me sound like Izzy.
Looks like the new lead singer is Chester from Linkin Park
all over facebook and the band's website.
lol.
He actually performed with them last night at the KROQ Weenieroast. Was good, he's usually pretty good at emulating other singers while still sounding unique.
Now whether or not he's a good replacement for Scott can be debated endlessly, but Scott screwed up and can't stay clean and Chester can at least sing. I'd rather STP make music than not make music.
Edit: Also no one knows if this is permanent or if he's just filling in, Chester isn't leaving his other band either. Maybe Scott is trying to get clean for the one billionth time.
Chester is probably my favorite artist ever, so i'm pretty damn pumped. Everything this guy does is golden.
Dead By Sunrise had some amazing songs, Linkin Park is an amazing band and most of all, the dude is flat out amazing live.
STP just gained a few million fans.
Not if they lost a few millions fans at the same time. Speaking as a long time STP fan and someone who never liked Linkin Park, I have to at least give Chester Bennington a little respect, though, after seeing a clip of the KROQ show. But it's like STP went out and got a Franken-Scott Weiland.
Have never liked LP or that guy's singing so I definitely don't like this. I do dig STP though, even the last album. Had some good songs though no real gems.
Im an STP fan from when they first broke out. I am not down with this. I wouldnt pay to go see it. If SW is too strung out they should just leave it be. I doubt any of them really need the money. They should do other things instead of bastardizing one of the special things that they did do.
Stone Temple Pilots claims Scott Weiland screwed the band out of millions of dollars and now it's looking forward to a very important date -- in court.
