On Landon Donovan from someone's twitter. "What everyone wanted to hear: "Yes, I do have an interest in playing for the USMNT again, if given the opportunity, I would"

Donovan coming back doesn't fix their defensive problems.

Only saw last the few minutes of the 1st half and all of the 2nd half, but from what I saw Jose Villareal is freaking awesome. So glad he's on the galaxy

The Centennial kits. We should go to these full time.

No Cherundolo, no Castillo and now likely, no Howard.

Sorry to see Timmy go down, but frankly GK is the one place we can afford an injury.

Like these, but I really liked the blue/white and red/blue sash designs they've worn since South Africa.

Tough break for Everton -- they're soooo close to Europe -- and a bad break for Howard. Hope to see him back in action before the end of the season, but of all the "super-valuable" starters for the USMNT, I think he's the most replaceable. There are a handful of MLS goalies I'd be OK with for hex games.

Looks like Fabian picked up a knock too, that would be a crushing blow, especially with Castillo out.

Fabian Johnson picked up a knock, as well, but could still be okay to play.

Could afford 2 or 3 injuries in this position.

Wow. Horrible defense.

No experience. Our LB and RB will be horrible, Omar Gonzalez has sucked for the national team, and Geoff Cameron doesn't even play CB for Stoke. I don't get why Chandler, And Bocanegra weren't included. I also thought that Fabian Johnson was supposed to be okay to play?

Goodson getting the call pisses me off. He's horrible. Look at the Russia friendly, and the Antigua and Barbuda qualifier. He always causes at least 1 goal by himself.

To add to all of this, we're playing without Tim Howard. While Guzan Is a capable back up, he's not Tim Howard who the US have relied on to save their ass the past few years.

The Mexican attack is going to eat us alive.

If you'd read it, you'd know Chandler is injured. And I guess Klinsy isn't impressed with Bocanegra's performance at a crappy Spanish second-division club.

Brad Guzan is a Premier League starter and more than a "capable backup." There are plenty of things you can ***** about, he's not one of them.

Our defense blows. This isn't news to anyone.

Howard is irrelevant because he's injured and unavailable. No sense is crying over injured players. Guzan is fantastic, Rimando is capable and there are plenty of MLS goalies -- Johnson, Kennedy, Hamid -- who I'd be fine with for a couple games during qualifying.

I don't understand our midfield / attacking options. Brek Shea is the only real "natural" wide player in the midfield except for Beasley ... Zusi can kinda do it, but that's about it. Bradley has to start in CM, and Edu, Jones and Beckerman are essentially only able to play alongside him in CM. Using a compact midfield 3 (Beasley/Jones/Edu or Zusi) in the center can work against some teams with ... Gomez, Dempsey and Shea up top? I don't have a good answer about which wide player it's supposed to be -- Gatt, Wondolowski, Beasley -- opposite Shea, but we need to find more width to stretch all the non-Mexican defenses in CONCACAF. I hope this roster works, but I don't think Shea / Beasley alone are enough width in the middle.

I was just stating that were playing without our best keeper, I am we'll aware of what Guzan and the others can bring, but I would still love having Howard back there. His leadership of the team and experience of International matches put him above the rest, though.

I would play a 4-1-3-2. Use Beckerman or Edu in the Defensive Mid spot, with Bradley in Center Mid. Put Shea and Zusi on his sides, and throw Dempsey and Johnson up top.

Knowing Klinnsman, Gomez will play with Dempsey. Personally, I'd like to see Johnson with him. EJ and Deuce had some great chemistry when they played together. EJ also is a more complete striker. Better speed, and in the air.

I disagree. He's scored 1 goal for JK, and it was a PK. Sure he tears it up for his club team, but so does Wondo. He just can't transfer his skill to the international game. EJ and Gomez have proven they can score on the international level.

Eddie Johnson isn't good enough to hold Altidore's jock.

Eddie Johnson has scored 14 goals for the USA. He's 28.
Jozy Altidore has scored 13 goals for the USA. He's 23.

Eddie Johnson scored 17 times in 38 appearances with Seattle last year. He's 28.
Jozy Altidore has scored 25 times in 22 appearances with AZ this season. He's 23.

Please tell me you're trolling.

I won't address Gomez because he's only scored four international goals so you must have been thinking of someone else when you said "proven they can score on the international level." He's also scored 20 times in 39 games in Mexico this season, which can't compare with Jozy's production in Europe.

Of the three, Jozy plays at the highest level, is more productive, and is much younger. I'm struggling not to get personal here.
