Volpatti was placed on waivers before they knew Kelser was out with a broken foot. Volpatti probably isn't waived if Kesler was known to be out.

Am I reading this right? A BRUINS fan complaining about a 'dirty' player???

He did, but those were tailing off since his best output in '10/'11. I couldn't say if that was more to do with benefiting from the system in Springfield, or being stifled by the system in Adirondack. The Flyers/Phantoms could have had him focus on other areas of his game. That tends to happen a lot with guys once they turn pro. They come in with a hot hand, then get steered away to focus on other aspects of the game.

I think I might have to correct myself, though. Looking back, I think he actually scored the 42 goals when he was 19 before turning pro at 20.

I have no clue why they didn't release him instead.
I like him too...but he is a 4th line guy. Brings lots of energy. I too wish he was given more of a chance.

For one thing, Sestito hasn't played because he has terrible discipline on the Ice, and I dont mean at penalties. His play with and without the puck was not good at all at times. He wasn't a great fighter but a willing one. Good wheels for a guy his size

Question: Do you think Sestito could ever become that "10-10-10-10" guy?
(10 goals, 10 assist, 10 fights/year, 10 minutes/night type guy)?

Sort of a "very good 4th liner" type guy.

I think any offense you get out of him is a bonus. He has hands sometimes and I guess if he gets put on a line with other decent players he has the ability to provide limited offense, but I have no idea why you would want him playing with any decent players. He's a guy you send out to lay a big hit on someone and fight that won't be a complete liability ala Jody Shelley.

Ugh, Sestito is a goon. I think I remember watching him get one-punched by someone in a highlight last season.

I hope you are right, because if the big splash we have waited for is losing Volpatti and bringing in Sestito then I must say that I am a bit disappointed in this charade.

Very odd decision making by Vancouver management.

Should be interesting.

I think we are going to try to bring in a Malhotra replacement type player (shut down centre)

I think the Canucks were looking to lose Volpatti. If it was all a matter of opening a roster spot for Pinizzotto, then returning Pinozzotto to the AHL for conditioning, they could have simply reassigned Jordan Schroeder to the AHL for a short period, then bring him back up when the space allowed (Such as later that day when they found out Kesler was out). Volpatti was a healthy scratch in 3 of Vancouver's last 5 games, which sounds like a guy who was falling out of favour with Vigneault.

Nothing odd about it. Volpatti is pretty terrible and I didn't think he should even have made the team. With this move they get bigger, younger, and better.

Our fourth line consisted of Weise-Lapierre-Kassian, there really was no room for Volpatti, he was he 13th forward all along. Pinizzotto is not ready yet, too long without playing and I seriously doubt he cracks our lineup. Will be competing with Sestito for a spot until Kesler gets back then there is 0% chance he makes our team.

don't know your issue is with Volpatti, Kassian has been far worse defensively and Lapierre as well at times. He was a decent fourth liner.

Volpatti was fine.

Hate when hockey fans act like a guy is trash just cause he isn't on their team anymore.

Various reports say #Blackhawks put in a claim for Philly's Tom Sestito before he was claimed on waivers by Vancouver.
