Well, maybe we can bump this thread near the deadline and reconsider it....
Thrower + Collberg + 1st is a bit much for my taste, we could at least make it a conditional 1st (if we dont make it to the semi-final, Calgary give a pick to Montreal)
I would not do it right, but if at the deadline i judge it would worth it, then we can find a common ground.
Thrower moved to forward position by hab's board and we want to keep him
I don't think the Habs are going to outbid Pittsburgh or whoever is really sniffing a possible Cup parade. Habs just aren't at the point of making big prospect deals for rental players yet. (I expect, anyway - so far Bergevin seems to have his head on pretty straight, so I wouldn't expect him to do something completely unexpected! ).
that's about as much as I'd give up,value-wise, for Iginla
You're hilarious! Must have taken you a while to think that one up

2013 1st + Thrower is the starting point for discussion. I could easily see Iginla resigning in Montreal too. There young stars are only getting better.

If Montreal is in a similar position come the deadline and serious about making a cup run, this is deal that I would accept in a heartbeat if I were MB.
Aww, that's cute. I'll assume sarcasm because otherwise...
Anywho, depending on the price, targeting Iginla might be worth consideration. I do not believe he will garner anywhere near the return some Calgary fans think - somewhere around Kaberle but no more. While Iginla may be a rental, he has a presence that I would love to see mentor the kids. There is no assurance he packs it up after one year to retire in Calgary. He may feel he wants to keep playing, resign a short term deal and go back to Calgary afterward. Unless he wins the cup, in which case, who cares? We won.
Still, I would only pursue him if the Perry sweepstakes had closed.
Is a 2013 first + Thrower + any other prospect outside of Galchenyuk/Gallagher/Collberg/Tinordi/Beaulieu out of the question for Flames fans? I realize a team will have to give up a lot for Iginla, but I just don't think the Habs are willing to give up those guys.

Well, you know the drill, lets say Calgary is out of the playoff spot at the deadline and want to give Iginla a shoot at the cup.
And lets say Montreal is actually aiming at the cup and want to bring something similar to what Bourque bring to Colorado: a player able to rallies the team to one goal: a Stanley cup.
To Montreal :
Iginla
To Calgary:
Gionta - (The odd man out for cap purpose, Iginla become our Captain)
Tinordi - (Montreal's second best prospect. 22th overall 2010, 7.5c)
Webber - (The usual necessary throw-in)
Dietz - (7.0c Defenseman prospect)
Conditional 2nd (Montreal reach the Stanley cup final/Sign Iginla)
I would do it as a Habs fan if at the deadline i think Iginla could improve our chance to make the final to an interesting point.
Of course this is a negotiable first offer, i am waiting for Counter offer from Calgary fans.....
Edit:
counter offer by Calgary fans:
Thrower + Collberg + 1st
If Calgary was going to deal draft picks and a big contract for O'Reilly doesn't sound like they will be sellers.
Why is everyone saying Habs arent good enough for the Cup? Who called L.A. last year? Boston the year before, Chicago before....I mean the list goes on and on. The past few seasons the S.C. champs werent thought to go that far. Habs have an incredible goalie, pretty good D and arent anything to be laughed at at the F position. I'm not saying to plan the parade, I'm just saying in this day of age anything is possible.
