I'd happily take a 2nd and a 3rd for Melton. He's a very good but not great defensive tackle.

I could see New England, Denver and Indy making that move for Melton with their 1sts.

So where do you think Kruger will end up going? It'd be nice to have him in Chicago but idk how well he'd fit in with the defense.

@vxmcclure23: Henry Melton just told me the Bears slapped the franchise tag on him.

@ZachZaidman: #Bears have until July 15 to sign Henry Melton to a long-term extension. If not, he'll earn $8.45 million under franchise tag designation.

Joe Flacco's 6-year contract makes him the highest paid player in NFL history, according to a Ravens source. More details to come

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter
Joe Flacco and Ravens agreed to a six-year contract in excess of $120 million that makes him the highest paid player in NFL history.

What? He's one of the top DTs in the league. Absolutely worth a tag. Hopefully they can get a long-term deal in place, like what happened with Forte.

No, Peppers is an elite player. Melton gets the benefit of playing next to an elite player. Tommie Harris was one of the best DT's. Melton is just a very good DT

Anyone who thinks Suh sucks is looking through rose colored glasses. Plain and simple.

totally agree. he's clearly got some flaws, but he had like 50% more qb his than next closest guy, 9 sacks, and 16 tfl's. he's a beast. that stat also had Fairley higher than Melton, and while i thought he looked pretty damn good, i didn't expect that at all.

Megatron also was not as clutch as previous years. i saw him drop some tough passes but passes he use to catch.

Maybe I am just unfamiliar with advanced stats, but how does Melton only have 12 games?

The stats they have listed:
12 games, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumbles
His real stats:
14 games, 6 sacks, 2 forces fumbles

Plus you have to factor in the hits on QB and tackle for loss left out if there were any.

I also remember Melton just missing a ton of sacks...but he was consistently getting pressure on the QB. Peppers can't be counted on to stay healthy. I shutter to think of what kind of pressure would be put on the QB minus Melton and when Peppers goes down with his inevitable injury.

I don't think people know how good Austin is and how perfect he is for the Bears. Bears need a #2 to go with Marshall. Marshall is a big, strong, possession WR. To go with that you want a fast, quick, deep threat, which is what Austin is. Plus with Hester leaving Austin was a good KR and PR. Again he is DeSean Jackson, with better hands and without the stupidity.

I think 29 teams would love to have a 2,000 yard WR who isn't clutch. Megatron was the one thing no wrong with the Lions last year. Stafford wasn't as good, they have 0 RB and their D got exposed. Calvin Johnson is fine.

OVERPAID! Flacco is good but I wouldn't put him top 5 in the NFL and certainly wouldn't ruin my team to resign him. Now Bolden is certainly gone and so it every other FA they have.
