Not sure if I buy it myself but if his production at a professional level never takes off, that could be a reason why.
Well....that and that the coaches have said he played rover...he got his points in juniors based of his athletic ability/talent, but didn't actually "know" the game, at least how its played in the pros- this is somethign that's sunk more then one prospect in history.

Agreed, Grind.

He'll either pick it up and play a more structured NA game, or head back to Russia and play in the KHL.

Scheifele makes his return tonight. Colts have all their players back, including Theoret, Camara, and Eckblad. Steelheads (St Michaels Majors last year) usually put up a good fight against the Colts. I usually head out to see these live when the Colts play, as it's about a 15 minute drive to the Mississauga arena from me, but will have to live with watching a terrible stream tonight. Looking forward to it!

PS: if anyone autox's, I used to race at the arena lot there. Useless trivia, but hey...

Trouba is playing on TV in about 10 minutes on the CBS College Sports station against Ferris State.

For those of you with Bell, channel 841(HD) or 413(SD).

Just watching the Wolverine vs Bulldog pregame show and they were just talking about how Trouba could step into the NHL today.

That's pretty much the consensus opinion in hockey circles and I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest to see him in Winnipeg this fall.

Beautiful stretch pass from Scheifele to Athanasiou to send him in on a breakaway right at the end of the period. Didn't end up potting it, but was a nice play. 0-0 after the first. Niederberger strong - shots are 20-7 favouring the Steelheads.

It's really great to be able to watch Trouba play.

Love his physical game. Controlling the blue line out there tonight well.

Bump.

This game begins in a few minutes.

You can watch it in HD on Shaw #303; the game isn't listed in the guide but tune in and it will be there! Also on ch #9 in SD.

Loubardias just said that if you polled the coaches around the WHL, Adam Lowry may be the MVP of the league!!

2A for Scheifele in a 2-0 Colts win over the Steelheads. Sitting 16th in scoring in the OHL now.

I wouldn't be suprised either Le Golie

At the WJC he looked like the most NHL ready D man IMHO and that included Hamilton.....I know it is just a tournament but it was 8 games. The good news is there is allot of time between now and September for him to develop as well. If he does go back I don't see more than 1 year more max.

19 pts in the 10 games he's been back in Barrie. That's impressive.

But, not Jonathan Druin impressive. Drouin has 31 pts in his last 12 games or 49 pts in 20 games since the WJC. Wow.

That YouTube video of the Drouin highlight last week was pretty incredible.

Meh. It's the Q. Drouin is an impressive player, for sure.

They wound up crediting Swift Current's 2nd goal to Lowry... long after it had been initially awarded to Heatherington. Hah!
http://www.whl.ca/schedule/show/game/62489

#41 on a very sweet & soft tip-in of a shot from the point.

Boring game otherwise.

Ya, whoever drafts him is getting a highly skilled player.

Also impressed with his points since MacKinnon has been out - 9 g/16 a/25 pts in the last 9 games. Seems to be saying, for anyone who thinks I'm getting points because of MacKinnon, think again.

But back on thread.

Scheifele could have gone back and sulked, but instead he's putting up points at a near 2 pts/game clip. Still pulling for the kid to get 40 goals this year.

And Lowry, fantastic. Keep it rolling.

Edit:
Further to the MacKinnon/Drouin points analysis. Since returning from the WJC, MacKinnon had 6 g/11 a/17 pts in 11 games. Drouin (in same games) was 10 g/14 a/24 pts in those 11 games. Then has gone on to get 25 more pts in the last 9 games without MacKinnon. Drouin has been unbelieveable since returning from the WJC. His confidence must be sky high.

How did Trouba look tonight?

Still can't believe the roll Kasdorf and Hellebuyck are on. Really hoping one of these guys can become the goalie of the future for us.

Agreed. Shuffle is lights out in the O right now, Lowry is beasting the W, Kasdorf and Hellebuyck have claimed the starter goalie position as freshmen, Sutter has picked up his game over the last 20 games, Yuen continues to be a great D, Trouba is just Trouba. I feel happy with those prospects in the cupboard.
