I think it's a situation where his value isn't high enough to trade him, unless there is another similar "change of scenery" prospect. Columbus can't trade him and have him end up being a 75 pt player somewhere else.
His value is low right now. No reason to trade him. New management in Columbus. Let's see how this plays out and what they value his services. He's playing top line tonight according to the beat writers in Columbus. Let's see how this plays out.
And he isn't being ruined in Columbus I don't think. They're taking it slow with him giving him ample time in the AHL. Sure he has played well but he isn't producing and part of that is on him (as well as him having no quality linemates). He's up in the NHL right now because Columbus once again has lots of players out with injury.
When we let young guys play in the NHL, it's "oh no they're rushing him!"
When we force young players to play in the AHL it's "oh no they're holding him back!"
I guess there's really no happy medium until guys just miraculously start producing like they're expected to.
If someone watched him tonight in Chicago... He definitely didn't look like a ruined prospect, more like a budding star. His partners couldn't finish his passes, he created breakaway opportunity all by himself and eventually scored a beautiful goal.
