I will be surprised if SAIK doesn't select BIF(or AIK) and if LHC isn't picked last. The most interesting will be what team finishes 2nd and who they pick. I can see either way with choosing MoDo or FHC. The points are similar but MoDO has 26 ROWs and FHC has 22.
I'm new to the Elitserien and have wanted to get more into it for years. (I play SEL teams all the time on the EA NHL games for some reason... I think because I like playing with the bigger ice....plus I'm an Avs fan so for a while the only way to follow how Forsberg was doing was through MoDo)
So the playoffs work by high seeds choosing lower seeds?
Also one thing I've been trying to figure out is how the Kvalserien works. The top 3 teams in Allsvenskan get in easy, and then the next three teams compete for the last "wildcard" slot? am I understanding this right?

For the SEL playoffs, yes. Seed one starts, can choose any team 5-8 and so on.
4-7 place SEL2 teams play for the last qualification spot. It used to be a playoff two round bo3 format but for this season it's a home-away group play. 4th place team starts with 4pts, 5th place 3pts, 6th place 2pt, 7th place 1pt. Six games each, 3 pts for win, 2pts for OT/SO, 1 for OTL.

My only option of seeing a live playoff game is if HV, Frölunda or Linköping make it to game 6 or 7 of the semis, or game 1 of the final. That's the approx time period I'll be in Sweden, and I can only make it to those venues. Using this space to figure out what I need to hope happens...
Frölunda somehow beats Skellefteå
HV-Linköping, doesn't matter much
Finals
Frölunda vs HV/Linköping
I could watch game 6 Skellefteå-Frölunda in Göteborg, game 6 or 7 in Linköping/Jönköping, and/or game 1 of the finals in Linköping/Jönköping.
Having said all that... I'm sure Skellefteå storms through to the final, and I'm sure either Färjestad or Luleå play hero on the other side and oust all my southern hope.
I'm most unsure about the stupidly named E4 derby, that's going to be hard fought, I hope it's going to be a physical series, lots of OT:s and with tons of injuries on the winning lineup.
