That's exactly what I thought. Apparently season 7 had highest viewership counts in a long time and an article was speculating that perhaps it's to delay the endgame since they can milk that cash cow.

Mother in law told me they're going to do a spin off for an entirely new show with Dexter, after the final season. Did a quick Google search, but couldn't find anything on it. Anyone hear anything about this?

I think she obviously will be. She's gonna do something crazy like kidnap or kill Harrison. Something that sends Dex right off the deep end.

The writers will probably blame Hannah for the cow's death.

I was under the impression that Michael C. Hall didn't even want a seventh season. I remember the contract talks were strenuous because he wanted to become a Broadway actor. I'd be very surprised (and disappointed) if there's a season 9.

There won't be. The 8th season has be confirmed as the last for the Dexter series.

Although did not realize he was into the Broadway thing... interesting.

Depends on what happens throughout the season,

If the viewcounts are still solid going into the 8th season finale they'll probably rewrite **** to force it to go to 9

The only endgame i see is Deb Vs Dexter, it has to happen

Just finished the season last night. With the flashbacks it just confirmed to me this needs to end soon, the show was so much better at the start before so many people got wrapped up into it and Dexter is just running on pure luck.

Back in the day when it was just one person catching on to him and he had this massive secret was far more intense somehow than this giant web. How a guy can have his wife killed, kids gone, sister and two exes know he's a killer and somehow always come up roses is getting a little old.

The "flashbacks" were actually new footage, weren't they?

Just finished the last episode!
Damn I need to know what happens next NOW! I hate the cliffhangers!

As above it's time to end though I really don't want it to, Dexter has been awesome, I actually feel like I care about the characters which doesn't happen often.

Though it has been getting a bit boring, like how he's just about to get caught but always slips away, how everyone he 'tails' never ever realises the same car that was sitting at the bottom of their garden turned on and drove behind them as they drove off and followed them to their very destination and there is never any evidence whatsoever when he's had to rush off to avoid being caught! There's many more instances but I can forgive it when it's such a great show....next up walking dead, game of thrones and to watch all the seasons of breaking bad, should keep me occupied until June.

Just began watching Dexter a month or so ago. Just done with Season 4. Gutted (no pun intended) over that season finale, with Rita and all. Really shaken by that.

Having said that, what a show.

Dexter should have stopped after season 4. The downhil spiral it has taken from 5 on is absolutely incredible to me how they could mess up the show so badly

The killing spree of Dexter Morgan is finally coming to an end. Showtime’s Dexter TV series will end with the conclusion of the show’s upcoming eighth season.

So I'm done with 5, and five episodes into 6. (yay for flu season)

Really didn't mind the Lumen storyline. That was fine.

This season 6, with Doomsday? Not really feeling it, so far. We'll see.

This show is a great example of what ratings and money can do to people. I think it has gone on for 2 more seasons than it should. Now an 8th...yikes.

Almost done with season 7 (2½ episodes left). 7 has turned out quite alright in my book, though I'm a big Ray Stevenson fan.

Just started watching this show over the past few weeks, so I'm not going to read through this thread a whole lot (only just finished Season 3, no spoilers! ).

Wanted to say, though, that Deb is probably one of the most annoying characters on television.....at least so far in this series.

Thank god this show is ending

Now time for Michael C. Hall to find a new project. Probably the best actor on television, I say that even though BB is one of my favourite show
