i hope he gets interest and picked up by someone. he can still be an asset and has incredible skill, albeit not very speedy!

If we are truly buying him out I find it to be a waste and poor management on Tallon's part.

First of all, he wasn't THAT needed to begin with. Yah we welcomed him but short of his first game he has been very ineffective.

Tallon should've recognized this. Also, it's only a 1-year deal. Why not waive him and send him to the AHL to play out the remainder (or maybe someone claims him?).

I will be pretty unhappy if this is true. Wasting one of our buyouts on an aging vet with 25 games left on his contract is incredibly stupid and kind of bush league. Tallon is better than this.

Would much rather buyout Upshall or Kuba at this point (at the end of the season, no point in doing it now).

Who's the bigger problem?

Alexei Kovalev - 14 GP - 2 G - 3 A - 5 PTS - (minus 1)
Stephen Weiss - 15 GP - 1 G - 3 A - 4 PTS - (minus 11)

Well, what did you guys expect when Dineen started to play him on the bottom6?

He was decent enough for the top6 on those few games he was there.

It feels like we have a bottom 9.

I don't think Mueller - Shore - Hubs should be considered part of a bottom 9

I had no problems with Kovy. Didn't expect a lot out of a 40 year old. Good luck to him.

I think it was a bad signing because the majority of people said he was going to be a disaster and there was a lot of evidence supporting this.

I do think Tallon didn't expect to get the production he has out of Hubs and Mueller and certainly not Shore who he didn't even give a spot to at the start of the season. Coupled with our injuries he needed to find a low risk signing that might provide offense.

At least the contract is for just this year.

That's the first line.

The rest are bottom pairing.

Very happy that he's gone. Good riddance.

For those saying he's still useful on the PP, he's not. He just sucks. I feel bad for the KHL team that signs him considering he'll suck there, too.

It's truly a travesty for a hockey fan to have to watch this guy play hockey. Hopefully he retires.

I don't think this will be a compliance buyout. I think they are basically forcing him to retire. We'll still have our two buyouts left.

We will need them anyway for Upshall & Kuba next offseason.

I'm a huge Kovalev fan. He is still 12th on the team in scoring with a +/- of -1 , one of the best on the team. I don't understand why Florida would spoil his trade value by banishing him. Why not play him on one of the top lines, hope he scores a few points and move him for value? In the team's 7 wins, he did play a pivotal role in 2 of them. It just makes no sense to me why Florida would hurt the market for their own player.

Does anyone agree that he should be placed in the lineup to be traded more easily?

Did you see him play this season? Top lines? Don't think so.
