Makes you glad Regier didn't put in an offer sheet.

Also makes Feaster and Sherman looked stupid. Feaster for risking picks for nothing, and Sherman for not telling everyone to essentially remove the offer sheet leverage for O'Reilly.

That would've been interesting had it played out. It would have made the Zigomanus fax machine incident look like spilt milk.

I don't think the O'Reilly saga is over. I can see Sherman trying to deal him before having to deal with another RFA contract negotiation.

How the Olympics and the 2014 trade deadline match up will be interesting. In 2010, the closing ceremonies were held on February 28th, and the trade deadline was March 3rd. Sochi closes on February 23rd in 2014. Assuming the NHL plans it out for the deadline to happen after the Olympics, that would put it around February 26th.

Colorado matched on February 28th. So O'Reilly might not be able to be traded in time for the deadline.

I think Sherman eventually deals him, either at the deadline if the timing works, or in the off-season after next year.

And Brian Lawton pointed out today that Calgary would've been on the hook for the $2.5m signing bonus even if O'Reilly was claimed by another team on waivers. What a complete cluster****. Lends some credence to the conspiracy theory that Feaster and Sherman were in on it together, and Colorado was always going to match.

Additionally, Sherman should be faulted for not realizing what Calgary had just done, and then holding that over Feaster's head to obtain a good trade. If Colorado traded O'Reilly to Calgary during the 7-day period, he wouldn't have had to pass through waivers, IIRC. If that's the case, Sherman could've said, "Throw in some players to that 1st and 3rd package we're going to get," or "Give us Sven Baertschi and we'll call it even."

I'm not huge on tinfoil hats, but I would not be surprised if there was collusion there. You just don't give a player you're trying to lure from another team that little term. Force the Avs to deal with their malcontent for the next ever

Meh. Can always use the "We were trying to weaken a division rival" excuse if you're the Flames.

Is it bad that I'm a little glad that Kassian has completely fallen off? I wanted him to do well, but I got tired of Vancouver fans claiming he was going to be better than Bertuzzi. They needed a reality check.

Me too, but then I read Steve Bennett's posts and I hope he busts so I can imagine how dejected Bennett will be at "Kassassinator" busting.

That guy is a full blown tard, I have no idea how in the hell he is still able to post on this site with all of the flaming he does, every post he says something idiotic!

Anyways, CoHo looks really good right now and that's all that really matters to me at this point, I could care less about Kassian.

The Hawks are absurdedly good. This is like Canada v Austria right now. Every line is getting chances and the Red Wings can't even get out of their own end unless its dumping the puck to make a change.

A combination of good luck and Howard is keeping this from being 3 or 4 to nothing.

This is definitely the most exciting 0-0 game I've seen. Why can't all NHL hockey be this good?

Kane scores late to tie 1-1, epic game.

Uh oh, Detroit with another delay of game penalty...

Just like I'm glad I've always had Detroit as a 2nd team.

Also I hate that delay of game penalty. It needs to go back to just being a penalty if the goalie does it.

Anyone else think the hawks are peaking too early and are gonna come back down to earth during the playoffs?
