2006/2007 Stanley Cup - Odds to Win

http://http://www.bettingexpress.com/sports_lines/523.html

Quote:
Detroit Red Wings 6-1
Ottawa Senators 7-1
Carolina Hurricanes 10-1
Anaheim Mighty Ducks 12-1
Calgary Flames 12-1
New Jersey Devils 12-1
Buffalo Sabres 12-1
Philadelphia Flyers 12-1
Dallas Stars 15-1
San Jose Sharks 15-1
New York Rangers 18-1
Vancouver Canucks 20-1
Nashville Predators 20-1
Colorado Avalanche 20-1
Edmonton Oilers 25-1
Tampa Bay Lightning 25-1
Montreal Canadiens 30-1
Florida Panthers 30-1
Atlanta Thrashers 30-1
Toronto Maple Leafs 40-1
Columbus Blue Jackets 40-1
Minnesota Wild 40-1
Boston Bruins 48-1
New York Islanders 50-1
Phoenix Coyotes 50-1
Los Angeles Kings 50-1
Pittsburgh Penguins 90-1
St Louis Blues 100-1
Chicago Blackhawks 100-1
Washington Capitals 100-1

I don't know if this is the official Vegas odds but its interesting none the less. It seems they are still favouring DET who lost key vets and TB 3 years (soon) after their cup victory, IMO Lecavalier won't savour the joy of playoffs this year. Note that their odds look kinda like the end season standings at quick glance.

Oh and its good they didn't buy into that Boston hype

Hype? What hype??

Everyone is pegging Boston to finish last in the division and not make the playoffs. There's no hype...they will just surprise many.

you COULD win, but you won't. you're better off wasting your money on the capitals.

quite a few teams are on there that shouldn't be ahead of the habs...
and it seems like to be a cup fave you have to be in significant cap trouble.

It's always about money.

Here's a saddistic question for you Habs fans...

Would you rather:

a) see the Habs win a Cup and lose $100

b) watch the Bruins hoist Lord Stanley and win $4800

Philadelphia, Vancouver, Colorado, Edmonton, and Tampa Bay shouldn't be ahead of us IMO.

New Jersey certainly shouldn't have those kind of odds either.

You take Washington,I will take Boston!

I saw my Habs win the cup in 1993,now I would take money over the cup

Hah, sorry but you make it sound like such a dilemma

edit: Upon further reflection, the habs better lose the semifinals in 7 against Atlanta or something.

I'd rather lose several hundred (thousand?) bucks paying for a scalped ticket to see the Habs win with my own two eyes than winning 4800$. But that's just me, it's worth that much to me.

Who's giving those odds ?? I think I'll call them up to put 50$ down on the habitans !! a cool 1500$ comin my way !

Seems to me like they're Aves fans... Same odds as Vancouver and Nashville, give me a break. With all of their Habs waste, COLORADO S-T-I-N-K-S !!!

Too early to make bets like that ... a lot of those teams will be going through major changes.

Detroit is missing its starting goaltender and handful of other players.

New Jersey will almost certainly lose Gomez, Gionta or something else.

Buffalo has half of their team in arbitration - could hurt team chemistry in addition to losing some key people aswell.

Vancouver is almost maxed out with only dozen roster players missing couple defencemen and right wingers for 1st and 2nd lines.

Tampa Bay - outside starting lineup they will have terrible team.

After Ryder signs Habs will be the first team to have complete 23 man roster - there are only handful or few teams that are complete with some depth (Calgary, Carolina, Colorado and Dallas). I'm confident Habs can take most teams in the list above.

But ... if I was betting man, I'd put my money on Minnesota with those odds.

Same, I already paid for scalper tickets just to see the habs winning in 1st round against Boston... No contest, Habs winning before 5000$... What is 5000$ anyways, a good travel in europe?... might as well see the habs winning it all.

Those are way different from the ones I saw on The Score last week, which had Ottawa at 6-1 favourites. How far do people think Jagr can carry NYR?

Well, can't argue with that, but they might pull a Pittsburgh

No one is guaranteed success of course, but Anaheim has been one of the better and most consistent teams for the last couple of years. I think they will do well next season as well.
