You're right. Zolnierczyk left his feet. You can see it clearly at 1:29 and he was in the air before they hit. It was also a headshot as his upper arm and elbow hit Lundin in the face. It's a suspendable offense and I'm expecting 3 to 4 games for the hit. Zolnierczyk will be sitting some games.

I flew up from Texas and watched this game in person. Very good game. Also, best seats I ever had... About 4 rows behind the Flyer's bench.

Hmmm... this is actually pretty convincing. I think this is clear evidence he did have a skate on the ice when contact was initiated. And it clearly shows the principal contact is shoulder to shoulder.

It's difficult to discern if the skate is touching ice, though. But how is this photo convincing that the principal contact is shoulder-to-shoulder? Z's shoulder is lined up with Lundin's head.

Hard to believe anyone can say he targeted his head. If Lundin is standing upright thats chest to chest. It's kind of hard to not hit his head when he's crouched over like that, isn't that the definition of leaving yourself in a vulnerable position that Shanny often uses?

Still retarded, but much better than the rancid feces that spewed out of Potvin's mouth.

I guess. I see it as contact is made and the head hasn't been touched, so I assume it's the shoulder??

I'd say that in this screen capture, the principal contact has yet to be made.

Almost looks like his hip makes contact here. It is VERY hard to tell.

Immediately after contact. You'll just have to take my word on that, but it's the first frame in which Lundin shows any signs of contact having been made.

1. Definitely shoulder squarely to head
2. Skates on ice

In my opinion, the only way it gets more than a fine is if Shanahan decides the upwards thrust constitutes going out of his way to target the head. I think he'll bring up the fact that Lundin was crouched way down. And he damn well better bring up the fact that there were no lateral changes in Zolnierczyk's direction to speak of. There's nothing that would constitute a last minute course correction to make sure the head was targeted.

Considering we were 2-6 to start the season. I'm really happy to be back at .500.

I missed the game and was only really able to catch some highlights. How did they look overall?

Awful the first 5 minutes (like really, really bad). Rest of the 1st period was pretty even.

Dominated the 2nd.

3rd was pretty even. Flyers had quite a lot of PP time though.

I can't see how this pic is right after contact, as you said. Z, at the very least, thrust himself upward into Lundin. (You know what I mean, you dirty minds!) They would be plastered together as Z's momentum slammed Lundin backward.

And I don't think Z intended to target Lundin's head, but he sure rocked it, as exemplified by how quickly Lundin's head goes backward; ie, faster than the rest of his body. Were I Shanahan, I'd use the word "reckless" as the descriptor on hitting Lundin's head.

Seven hours and a shower later, I still feel dirty after only listening to that

poor start.
again.

how ??

Bryz saved them. OTT took penalties that really help us. Good PK.
Bad goal by Bryz, other than that, he looked great.

gotta love Simmonds & Jake !!

let's make a playoff push NOW !

Is there a reason Hartnell only got 16 minutes this game? Is he just playing poorly or is Laviolette easing him in?

I cant believe this is the same team that was killing penalties the first half dozen games. The Pkers have been awesome lately.
Briere was brutally bad today. I really dont know what else to say. If Lavy puts him back out on the PP next game I am not going to be happy.
Bryz was really good today the goal aside.
big test coming up next week.

He kept forcing passes on the PP. I don't know why Lavy won't decrease his ice time when he plays like this.
