Seguin; will the Media pounce?

If Seguin continues to play like he has so far this season, do you think the Boston Media will set their sights on this guy?

If you follow Twitter, Kevin Dupont, it would appear, is not much of a fan.

Will this guy start to get drummed in Boston? Justifiable, or not?

Thoughts.......

He's not getting goals, but he's getting points and playing well.

KPD has been on him since before they drafted him, not surprising either.

He probably will, but I honestly think he has not been that bad in the past 5 games, and has played -a better two way game as of late. But, because of the size of the market, and his skillset; the media will pounce on him.

Eventually. I think mostly because of output versus $$$$.

If he doesn't start to score we may. All the articles will touch on is scoring too nothing about assists, play, defensive effort or anything like that.

In other news I can't stand KPD. He can say whatever he would like I simply will not read it.

In my humble opinion.....

KPD's view of the game hasn't kept up with the product on the ice today. I'm admittedly not a fan.

Frankly, this question would have been more appropriate a month ago when he really was struggling. He's played his best games in the last two weeks, so I don't think he'll get drummed.

Next year, with his new salary starting and if he has the same slow start, might be a different story.

I sure hope he keeps playing this way. He's finally finding his offensive stride.

Me neither, I never read KDP. I get my hockey news elsewhere. I remember DuPont picking against the b's during their cup run

I bet Seguin with the winner today will quiet all of this.

I think that if this team was a rebuild, and he was "the guy", he'd be under more scrutiny. In this organization he's another piece and the team doesn't live or die with his success/failure so I think that reduces some of the potential scrutiny that a typical top three pick might face.

I won't publicize my oppinion of KPD as he posts, or at least to post here, but I definitely unfollowed him on Twitter. He's been on Seg's since draft day.

It's good to see he's getting into the dirty areas more, but like today, we hope to see more goals, kid has way too much skill not to score.

2 goals and 5 assists in the last 7 games with some really good defensive plays too.

He's working hard and he's improving....not much to complain about right now.

KPD hates any player not named Dominic Moore. Seguin is playing just fine and getting better. There's a reason KPD is a writer and not a GM.

I use to be a reader of KPD back when he was relevant. Now his opinion doesn't mean anything.

Seguin has been playing very well of late.

Young Seguin has finally learned how to compete. He engages into contact in all areas where as he used to shy away from it. He's still a pup strength-wise. We're just seeing the start of what he can be as an all around player(which a Bruin must be).
That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if Marchand wound up being the better goal scorer. He seems to move into shooting areas without the puck better than Tyler. Tyler still tries too hard to beat people one on one. Great passer though. If he can finish like his PP goal today(a la Stamkos), I will gladly eat my words!!

All the dinosaurs eventually die.

I clipped Dupont from my reading rotation a long time ago ... Haggs got clipped when he started with his Tim Thomas agenda.

And today, I clipped Murphy because he's starting to go the route of Dupont and Haggerty ... Slainte !!

------------

As for Seguin ... He'll be just fine.

No kidding, he shouldn't be allowed to talk about the Bruins. Last time I heard him he was trying to convince someone that Seguin was a bust because he's at the sickly age of 20. The guy is a joke.

Edit: Tanguay, not KDP

I don't read KPD's garbage so I don't really care. Seguin has been fine as of late.

Despite the fact that Seguin has been one of our best players for the past week...?

He's too pretty to be hated by Boston.

I don't get why people are down on the kid. Plays on a defense first team. They make him play defense first so he was 2nd in the league in +/- last year and sits in 2nd right now. If Stamkos were on this team he would be a 40 goal scorer, tops--because the power play sucks and he would not be allowed to leave the defensive zone early.

This is the same BS I see with people criticizing Dougie's play. "Rookie mistake here, rookie mistake there, kid needs to bear down and fight through players holding his stick to prevent a goal." All of this BS while Ference and McQuaid play horribly every game and no one talks about it. Dougie is easily the 4th best Dman every night and usually better than Boychuck too.

Back to Seguin, if he stays in Boston on a D first team, look for his numbers to parallel someone like Mike Modano. Forced to be a D-first center so his individual numbers suffered (only 50 goals once) but the team benefited. With his improved 1:1 play, I would expect his shift back to center to come before the start of next year and numbers to improve with the space available to a center in open ice. But they won't be Stamkos numbers so there will continue to be haters.
