Anyone else hear AJ and Walls rant about the officiating all game vs Belleville? I'm surprised that I didn't crash my car laughing so hard.

This seems like it might be a broad hint that if the 67's changed coaches they could have a turnaround like the Petes:

http://www.ottawacitizen.com/sports/...854/story.html

The Ottawa 67’s can live with hitting rock bottom in the Ontario Hockey League standings.

What the 67’s won’t accept is spending a second season there and should they require any proof of how quickly things can turn around in junior hockey, all they have to do is look at what the Peterborough Petes have done in just 21 games.

Last in the league and 14 points out of a playoff spot after game No. 35, the Petes have won 12 of 19 and gained points in 15 of 21 since after erupting for three quick goals in the second period to turn back a feisty 67’s squad 5-1 before a crowd of 4,845 at Scotiabank Place on Friday night.

Byrne is a terrible coach. He should definitely be fired. He doesn't seem to have any system at all. I know he and Killer are tight, but that shouldn't make him un-fireable.

Not really a fan, but Byrne isn't going anywhere. The article implies if you are doormats two years in a row you should be shown the door. The team should be much better next year as they will just be losing big Mike. Clint Windsor & Van Stralen are the only 19 year old's this year so they could take two overage slots. Both import slots will be open and they should have a top 5 import draft pick.

I doubt Monahan sticks in the NHL, I guess that depends on who drafts him.

On the bright side, with the loss to Peterborbough and Erie winning last night, that puts them 8 points behind Erie with 12 to play.

Hello Sean Day.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Jeff Hunt was quietly putting together a list of possible replacements for Byrne. Hunt can afford to pay top dollar for a coach, and Ottawa is a pretty high profile place in junior hockey. At the very least, Byrne will be on a short leash next season. Not a chance Hunt will tolerate another season like this one - it is just killing his attendance.

Hello Sean Day.
If they have to tank then this is the year to do it all right. Kiler will be happy, he said Day is the best 14 year old he's ever seen.

But I wonder too about Cody Ceci. The Sens were not happy with his development Partly that could have been because he was on such a poor team, but I wonder if they were not happy with the coaching and if that had to do with bringing him to training camp this year.

Wouldn't you have to look at what roles these players are actually filling with their new teams? If some of these guys where added to contending teams with decent players then they would be sharing a lot more ice time than they probably had to on a crappy Ottawa roster.

Cardwell just finished a 10 game suspension too for getting into an altercation with a fan.

Looks like it will be 1 as they are 7 points clear of 2nd last place with two weeks to go. Although Erie is tanking hard (2-8 in last 10) they are no match for Ottawa (1-8-0-1 in last 10). I believe the consensus all along has been D Sean Day from Compuware who is about to be granted exceptional status.

But in the last week, 67's PxP guy Jakubec tweeted and an article in the Ottawa Sun today alluded to the fact they might take Travis Konecny from Elgin Middlesex 1st overall. Not really buying this but we'll see. I'm sure Kilrea still has a fair amount of influence with Hunt.

Anyone seen Konecny play this year?

If a kid gets exceptional player status...you do not pass on him lol.

Imagine if the Gens stuck to their guns and took Couture #1 in the OHL draft and didn't take Tavares lol.

Hey Tigers, nice to see you venture here.

I'd like to hear who you think the 67s will take (or why they wouldn't take day), as I trust your opinion on the OHL more than any other poster on HFBoards. For those that don't know Tigers, this guy knows his ****.

I've been told Sean Day is an 99.9% lock to get exceptional status.

But they've also been rumoured to be in love with Konecny.

I've also heard rumors that if Day doesn't get taken #1 overall he won't play in the OHL (hey Logan couture I remember you)

It's hard to imagine anyone passing on Day. You're guaranteed to get at least 4 years of his services.

Only three, I would think - the kid is 15 now, and he will be drafted in June of 2016, as an 18 year old.

The more I think about the 67's season, the more irked I get. It's one thing to go young, but in junior hockey that usually means you shy away from 19 year olds, but you at least use your overage slots to stay competitive and help model the way for the younger players. The 67s didn't even use their full allotment of overagers or imports, which I think is insulting both to their players and to the fans. Heck, at least TRY to win games. With that roster, they weren't even trying to win, yet they wanted me to drive out to SBP, plunk down $50 for a pair of tickets, and watch them get beat 10-1, get 10 shots on goal the whole night, etc. Brutal.
