Pens D prospects aren't much better at D either

Most of them are offensive D men

Had me scratching my head big time at the draft.

"Why are they drafting Maatta and Pouliot, when they have Morrow, Despres, and now Doumolin...plus Letang?...Are they gonna roll 6 Kris Letangs back there? "

The same reason the Flyers picked Laughton. They went BPA. I actually like their philosophy of picking puck movers. It's easier to teach a defenseman the defensive side of the game then it is to teach them the offensive side of the game. Unlike the problem the Flyers have, they'll be able to transition and get the puck to their big guys.

I was told, yes, that 36 straight shootout losses is more impressive than 25-0-10. Imagine losing 36 straight games in the shootout and celebrating that as the longest "unbeaten" feat in history? I guess the word "unbeaten" has to be emphasized with the 25-0-10 mark.
I still cant wrap my head around .500 being 11-11-1. Simple math tells me thats 23 games. 11 wins in 23 games to me isnt .500. Call me old school and hating the shootout. A loss to me is a loss. If the Flyers beat the Rangers next week they will be .500. (12 wins in 24 games) Maybe I am in the minority of that way of thinking. I dont know. I just cant look at it any other way.

Just watched ANA-PHX

Man, the Coyotes got absolutely nothing from the refs.
Horrible reffing. Like Flyers-Pens-bad.

It is the NHL version of an evolving paradigm. Two ways to look at it, one you explained. The other is the team has 23 out of a possible 46 points, that is .500. The Rangers are 9-8-2, is that above or below .500? Nine wins in 19 games is below .500 but 20 points out of 38 is above .500. Only the NHL knows.

.500 is supposed to be a winning percentage. If you win 11 out of 23 games, you did not win 50% of your games. 11-11-1 is 50% of the points available to them though.

It's not "supposed" to be winning percentage; it's just what everyone in the hockey world calls it (which is incorrect). "Winning percentage" applies in sports like baseball and basketball, where there are no ties. It's incorrectly used in football, as well, though it rarely matters because there are few ties.

It supposed to be, and is, points percentage. As you said, the Flyers have exactly 50% of the possible points they could have achieved after 23 games, which means their record is 0.500.

I want to judge a wet T-shirt contest between Kate Upton, Salma Hayek and Halle Berry and in all honesty, I think there's a better chance of that happening than those 3 duds chalking up a "W" today. Isles should win though.

Grabner scored late in the 3rd. Hopefully that means an Islanders win.

Florida's backup goalie's equipment didn't arrive in time for the game so their goalie coach is the backup!

"Tallas last played in Austria during 2004-05 season. Last NHL action: 2000-01 for Blackhawks."
