Always thought JayBo would be a solid fit in Ottawa... Especially with Gonchar coming off the books this year and we can definitely afford him.

JayBo - Karlsson
Methot - Cowen

Would be a solid top4.. just not really sure what we could offer.

If ottawa is still in the playoffs by trade deadline, I wont mind offering 1st plus a prospect like Da Costa, that might be an overpayment because J-Bo has a big cap hit and is also 30 yrs old

Whatever Calgary wants, it's too much.

I would never want JayBo on the Wings.

He is worse than Kronwall and Kronwall has been abysmal this year.

Yes, Kronwall does suck. No argument on that one.

Why would they trade Bouwmeester, I thought Feaster proclaimed they would be making the playoffs?

I agree on that, but you're not getting either of them from a rebuilding team. Same kind of reaction Flames fans would have to sending out Baertschi, Jankowski, Reinhart..

I think you'd be more likely to get high pick and middle prospects, or (young) roster player + mid pick + mid prospect from the Wings than one of their top 5 prospects.

I think that the best spots for Bouwmeester are Detroit, Nashville, Carolina or Tampa. I feel like other teams are really overrating their prospects here, though. Top-2 defensemen don't come cheap at all, especially one that is under contract next season. Young, high-potential roster player with team control and a 1st Round Pick, minimum.

Wow.

People seriously underestimate the value of a top pairing defenseman in this league. Yeah, I know the Bouwmeester stereotypes, I don't need them recited to me - and, yes, I realize he has flaws, but he's still a top-pairing defenseman. He'll log 25, 26 minutes a night, there's not many players in the NHL capable of playing those minutes night in and night out. Also, he seems to be getting a bit of his offensive flair, back - 11 points and 4 goals in 19 games. Solid numbers.

His price tag is big (although, he's got only 1 year on his contract after this year), but he'll fetch a HEFTY return. Make no mistake. Think of what Johnson and Goligoski returned - and Bouwmeester is better than those players.

Overpaid ones do come cheaper than usual, though I do agree 1st + young roster player seems right as a starting point, or 2nd + young roster player and/or prospect depending on what the roster player and/or the prospect are.

My point exactly. A combination of young roster players and draft picks are going to be necessary to pry this guy to the team. That's not considering whether there's a bidding war for him. If so, expect top prospects to be involved here as well.

this... the fact that hes the leagues iron man at over 550 games helps his value (IMO, what good is a top pairing d-man if he's always injured)

He's not done yet.
I'd put money on it that Holland would include Sproul or Ouellet in a deal. With Smith, Lashoff, Dekeyser, that would still leave one of Sproul/Ouellet in the system. That's still a heavy dose of read/almost NHL ready D. Then they'd have Bouwmeester and Kronwall at the top.

I would assume Calgary would want young D but maybe I'm wrong.

Detroit is his best fit.

Feaster needs a center. He wants to become harder to play against. So, I would suspect if he can get a center, a shift disturber up front or mean defenseman for the back end, plus a top pick or prospect, he would move Bouwmeester.

Three good assets should get it done. The sticking point (and is almost always is) would be the quality of the center goint to Calgary. That is the biggest need here. Although I do agree that they must become harder to play against.
