great shot

stupid by schmelzer though... takes him 2 secs to clear a friggin ball, Lahm gets there first and thus it lands on Robben's foot. I think Lahm even had a legitimate penalty claim when Schmelzer finally got to the ball, or should we say Lahm's leg.

This is a demonstration of power so far, the goal was long overdue, esp. after the extreme pressure the last 10, 15 mins before the goal.

edit: 2nd look it might be a misunderstanding between him and Santana

Fantastic football, IMO. I don't think Dortmund's playing too badly. When Bayern does lose the ball, they come up fast and have been vaguely dangerous twice. But especially after the 25 minute mark, Bayern got into it and have perfectly shown the differences to the last years: when they don't have the ball, they are pressing relentlessly and forcing a ton of turnovers. With the ball, they are handling Dortmund's pressure a lot better, making good small plays, moving the ball quickly, escaping that pressure just a bit and creating room off that. Need to do a better job of capitalizing, because Dortmund will be dangerous.

Dante is a beast, and I am ridiculously in love with Javi Martinez. What a player.

Maybe they thought he yelled for Beinlich, who already played for Hamburg then... Do they sell bratwurst there or is food only available in the stadium-integrated McDonald's frachise (which is owned by former boxer Henry Maske)?

The latter rounds of DFB-Pokal always are frustrating for me. Since my team regularly exits as early and embarassing as possible, mostly boring or even disgusting teams play for the cup title. I normally root for Munich, because it does not matter to them anyway and at least no other team will be allowed to celebrate a success that my team has not had for more than 25 years...

Spielverlangerung does an english translation of their analysis of Dortmund-Bayern. Good read for our non-german speakers who don't get to read their articles often.

3rd pathetic game in a row. At this rate I'll be shocked if Foda lasts the season

the penalty call for Nürnberg against Freiburg was the worst I've seen in a while

you'd expect something like that in a video game maybe, but not in the real world with actual people who should be able to interpret rules. Jesus, I can't imagine what the guy was thinking...

A+ game by Draxler, could easily have finished with a hat trick and 2 assists. Good to see Huntelaar score, although it was already game over- can only do good for his confidence.

Freiburg, Hamburg and Bremen lose unexpected points

So, getting ready now for getting destroyed by BvB next week

Augsburg only 6 points behind Wolfsburg now

Lewandovski scored twice on Hannover.

Thank you very much, DFB.

The battle for the last CL spot will be crazy. Frankfurt in 4th at 38 points, Hannover in 10 with 33.

It's one CL spot too many.

depends who gets it, if Schalke get it then they will probably qualify. But if a team like Frankfurt, Freiburg, Mainz and even to a lesser extent Hamburg get it they will struggle to qualify for the CL but will get an automatic spot in the EL.

If Germany wants 4 teams in the CL its best that Schalke finish 4th, as they have the best chances to qualify and be somewhat competitive in the CL.

Look at Monchengladbach, they had a nice European season but I thought they blew it against an average (but more experienced) Dynamo Kiev squad. They were too naive and probably should have progressed

Gladbach was also a team that went through a ton of changes and was still figuring out how to play without Reus, Neustadter and Dante. And they still almost qualified for the CL and put in a good run in the EL. And who knows if Schalke, Gladbach or Hamburg end up that 4th team all 4 BL CL teams will be able to go into the CL with the talent, european experience and money to reinforce the squad necessary to put up a fight.

I have a chance to buy Marc-Andre ter Stegen in FIFA 13 after selling Szec because he was homesick, should I do it?

I want to buy a goalkeeper for the next 10-15 years he's just 21 years old and seems like a franchise player.

well, it's tough to say what will happen in the game. In real life, Arsenal would jump at the chance to get him imo. He is still a little inconsistent and gives up bad goals at times, but he's already a great ball stopper and has massive potential in terms of clearing the box at set pieces.

What I love most about mats is he has that Kahn-anger that fuels him to keep the ball out of his net. I love seeing that fury in a goaler, it's why St. Patrick made me an Avs fan.

below standard Bayern beat Hoffenheim 1:0, Hoffenheim played well, fought hard but still was not good enough to get a point against Bayern. Hoffenheim now 5 points behind Augsburg but they play Furth next week in whats in reality a must win game for both sides

Actually I don't think anyone cares about Hoffenheim getting relegated.

Next year should be fun with a real derby Braunschweig/Hannover. Oh yeah, Brunswick will have some trouble with those Wobbies (Wolfsburg) as well. I've been waiting for this for years.
