Figured this thread could contain some of Foley's best. From the Wee-Knee comment to him telling Karpovtsev how it really was, Foley is by far my all time favorite play by play guy.
Like I said. Those 2 years sucked. Kelly was awful and Foley IS the Hawks. It's like Stone with the Cubs; another wrong that needs to be corrected. It doesn't look good on that front, maybe somewhere down the line.
I had a dream a couple days ago where Pat Foley had me over to his house for dinner and what I thought was just him and I sharing Hawk memories turned into all these Hawk legends showing up, Belfour, Savard, J.R., Chelly, Mikita I didn't want to wake up!
Pat and Dale together were the best. Anybody remember their seats at the old stadium? They were pretty much tacked on to the side of the balcony over the ice. I remember sitting right by them a couple of times and watching them climb over the rail and down to their spot.
Went to bed many a night in the 80s listening to those two guys call the games past my bedtime. Loved the west coast trips, but I'd be pretty wiped at school the next day.

I'm 35 years old...and all I've known in a life time filled with Hawks hockey, has been Pat Foley. I will truly be at a loss when I can't tune into a Hawks game and not hear Foley's voice. Truth is...I hope I die before Foley retires. And if I don't, I surely will shortly after because I just won't be able to endure play by play from anyone else. LIstening to broadcasts back in the day with Foley and Tallon was just golden.
I remember tuning in to WBBM on the AM dial when I was a kid and listening to games against a North Stars team with Modano, Bellows, Churla, Hatcher...a Blues team with Hull, Janney, and Riendeau...Wings teams with the usual suspects.... Growing up with hockey on the radio was such an experience. I almost wish I could tune in on the radio out here in Philly.
