What a waste of time for such a brilliant prospect. This team is holding his development back.

I wad there. Percy looked okay, I mean for Owen Sound absolutely mucking Percy's team. He didn't really get any offensive oppurtunites though because Owen Sound was just all over them all game.

The thing I found odd though was Percy appeared to be benched in the 3rd. He just ran the door for the 3rd. I don't recall him getting injured. He was only a -1 after 5 goals in the 1st two periods so he wasn't playing horribly. In face either he, or Alex Cord played the best D on Mississauga.

He'll be fine, don't worry.

Could be giving him limited time to keep him fresh for the playoffs?

Not true. Rielly has been THE go to guy for Moose Jaw in every situation. Sure, he's not PPG like some other guys, but he has a higher points per goal than every defenseman I've looked at. The guy's having an absolute monster season, having a hand in almost 40% of goals Moose Jaw's score this season. Beast. That's more impressive than a point per game, IMO.

In a decent team, he'd definitely have been around the PPG mark.

D'amigo can be a good player for us he can put his offensive game together. He's still a season or two away IMO.

also:
Saheb S. ‏@LeafRocket
Dominic Toninato is playing bit over PPG, 49GM, 20G,51 PTS. Readying for Uni. Duluth, next season. #Leafs IMO darkhorse prospect.

To be fair, I still think Parise is the player that best represents his game.

With that being said, I doubt he ever surpasses 30 points.

Age 18:
Jerry D'Amigo 35 games, 10 goals, 34 points in NCAA (ROTY)
Dominic Toninato 51 games, 21 goals, 53 points in USHL

From my understanding D'Amigo is used in a defensive role in the AHL. Hopefully Eakins isn't destroying any creativity that he originally had in his game.

He would've struggled in an offensive role so there was no choice but to be placed in a defensive role.

This year he's looked much better offensively and I thought he could be bumped up the line-up but it hasn't happened.

In the end, he probably should have stayed in college for a few years.

Haven't watched the Marlies for a while, is Carter Ashton being used in an offensive role? D'Amigo and Ashton have same points, Ashton has 2 more goal.

So who are the offensive stars (young guys) for the Marlies that would be part of the Leafs' future?

To be honest, I don't think there are any. I think Joe Colborne is the best of the bunch down there, in terms of forwards. He's got solid two-way potential, as a smart, defensively conscious, playmaking pivot.

Outside of that, our best offensive hopes lie in the still developing prospects in Junior/NCAA ranks.

I think we're going to be pleasantly surprised with some of the guys with less exposure. I've had a couple viewings of MacWilliam and Knodel in action, and MacWilliam is definitely farther along, but the ceiling for Knodel is much higher, as a BIG two-way D-man. Knodel will benefit greatly from some face time with Barbara Underhill. When he smooths out the skating, he's going to be a really solid player.

MacWilliam is a beauty. This is the kind of guy you give a letter to. He's a leader on the ice and in the room, he's smart, plays well positionally, and hits like a truck. MacWilliam punishes people.

MacWilliam and Knodel will both be 23 this year.

Hopefully going full term in College is going to be the answer for these guys.

Maybe it's a unique trait of Leaf fans to criticize one prospect in order to compliment another. I've never quite understood why.

D'amigo was never a better prospect than kadri, but one must remember that he just turned 22, and would've just been completing his senior year in college (had he stayed on that path). Could very well end up being a David Clarkson type player, or even a player similar to what Kulemin currently is in the Leafs lineup.

I think it was exactly the path they needed. It allowed both of them time to develop, while at the same time, gain major strength. Workout warriors, both of them. That's how I like my defensemen.
