Exactly, we want players to play in front of the net yet when they get injured doing that they suck

Phaneuf was shooting. Safest place should have been in front of the net.

I would rather have Lupul on the first line than Kessel - I like the added puck possession game Lupul provides - he is much harder to play against compared to Phil

Dion Phaneuf:

Goals Scored: 4 (T-6th)
Shots on Net: 45 (T-9th)
Missed Shots: 19 (T-17th)

Joffrey Lupul, meanwhile, also skated Saturday and was taking part in light passing drills with Frattin. Lupul, who is recovering from a broken forearm, was able to shoot the puck lightly off his backhand, but there are no signs of a return to full shooting yet.
Lupul is likely another two to three weeks away from testing the injury under full shooting and contact conditions.

players get hit all the time from pucks
they screen the goalie or block shots

so what is the difference here?

Still he was lucky he didn't require surgery for it to be fixated. But he's been in a cast for long enough his muscles will have atrophied so it's not surprising his strength isn't going to suddenly return overnight.

That he was hit in the fore arm where there is no padding?

That the player got injured.

It's an unfortunate play, and that's that.

Interpreting some people's posts, it's as if Lupul signing the extension was the main reason for the injury.

His new five year contrat will allow him to fully heal, and we can look forward to his return in that time frame.

Injury history would suggest that a long term contract is a risk.

The chance of injury would suggest any long term contract is a risk

He got a 100 mph Phaneuf blast right in an exposed area between two pieces of padding. That doesn't have anything to do with propensity to injury. Come on.

wifey is a physio, said a break is 8 weeks to heal/recover to near pre-break health. if he pushes it, and heals a bit faster: 6 weeks (but we're talking about lupul here.) Using that time table, expect him back in the line up between March 13-20th, so another 5-7 games~ maybe they play it safe and wait for TB on the 20th.

I still dont like his contract. 5 more years? That is Nonis first mistake potentially. Lupul has injury issues and bad luck, watever the case, look at his career a ton of injuries. I hope it works out, I doubt it will.

If it works out we may have a PPG player for 5 mil, which is dirt cheap compared to grabo contract

He definitely will.

Realistically, he should be back at the end of the month.

Lupul is a hell of a lot more talented than grabo. At worst we have a 60 point winger who goes to dirty areas.

Quite underrated on these boards. He's a tremendous talent. It's quite evident how much he's been missed this year.
