I would try bigger trade, little upgrade defensive+ little downgrade offensive. Something like Briere+(Coburn/Meszarov)+ <-> (Shattenkirk/Pietrangelo)+(Stewart/Sobotka/Oshie) or Myers+(Stafford/Ott/Foligno).

The other way is to deal Briere for prospect and/or pick(1st or 2nd).

Briere(+) <-> (Cole/Schmaltz)+1st or (McCabe/McNabb)+1st

Imagine the hate the Flyers would receive if they got Ott to go along with Rinaldo He is one player I wanted the Flyers to have for a long time anndddd he is good at faceoffs.

My half-baked idea: Brière to St. Louis for 1st + Elliott.

The first team meeting with Laviolette and Ott would be fun.

1. His name is Meszaros. Andrej MeszarOS. You've been misspelling it for weeks now. It's a little embarrassing to see a Flyers fan on the trade board doesn't even know the name of a player on his own team that he's trying to trade.

2. Flyers fans and other fans have told you now like 200 times collectively that you aren't getting Pietrangelo or Shattenkirk for Briere. You actually aren't getting Pietrangelo period no matter what you offer short of Claude Giroux + because the Blues just aren't trading him, but that's a different matter.

3. You're also not getting Cole/Schmaltz + a 1st and you're certainly not getting McCabe or McNabb+1st

4. The trades that you classified as "a little defensive upgrade, a little offensive downgrade" are actually "MASSIVE defensive upgrade, little offensive UPGRADE". TJ Oshie and Chris Stewart both hold more value than Briere. Ott's probably about even.

Please just stop. Every trade you propose is MASSIVELY lopsided towards the Flyers.

Flyers add, pretty substantially too. Doubt St Louis would do Elliot for Briere alone.

I'm not at all sure about that. Elliott currently has an .857 SV% and a 3.57 GAA, and he's owed $1.8 mil again next season. Last year's all-star season (.940, 1.56) was quite the aberration from his career numbers (.907, 2.64). With a healthy Halak and the respectable play of Jake Allen, I wouldn't see Elliott as being that valued.

FYI, here is a sampling of Blues fans' opinions on Elliott.

So, yes, I think my offer is a fair one.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Briere doesn’t appear keen to waive his movement clause. As long as he doesn’t feel pressured by Flyers management to accept a trade, I don’t believe it matters which clubs have interest in him. If Briere has a say, he won’t be going anywhere.

The media is so useless sometimes. "Could be very". That's practically a contradiction. "Well it MIGHT be a lot...or it might..might..." Might what? Professional bs'ers.

The whole spectors note sounds like some kid checked hfboards for a half hour during study hall.

Nashville, Carolina, and St. Louis make the most sense to me. St. Louis and Nashville before Carolina just because they are in a different conference. I'm not sure if briere would want to go to Phoenix. I figure the price to pay for briere would be somewhat hefty. Especially at the deadline when 50-60 point centers rarely are available. I wouldn't mind seeing one of Phoenix young defenders + 1st come our way for briere and a 3rd.

At Louis has a few young prospects I would be interested in and so does Nashville. Mattias ekholm could be a target from Nashville. Also Nashville desperately needs scoring right now. Nashville is currently dead last in goals per game at 2. They need help badly.

If Briere really does go to Phoenix, how about him for a 1st and Rundblad?

I never really disliked Briere, but the argument to keep him is growing thinner and thinner. Any more he seems to just hurt the team when he is on the ice. I really hope he waives his ntc so we can move him.

If the Flyers keep winning the odds of Briere being traded grow smaller and smaller. But I agree. he isnt doing very much here for now, the Flyers im sure would like to trade him for something more useful.

How about Phoenix would never in a million years pay that price for Briere?

You couldn't get Rundblad alone for Briere. 1st and a middling prospect if you're lucky.

I think Briere's value is very much up in the air. I could easily see a team overpaying for him. A team that trades for him is doing so for one reason: the playoffs. Briere is pretty much the most clutch playoff performer in the NHL at the moment. Let's say Phoenix or St. Louis is close to what they believe to be Cup contenders. I could see them overpaying to get a guy like Briere. Is he worth Rundblad and first? In a vaccuum, no he isn't. At the deadline for a team who has a lot of youth to trade but lacks a presence like Briere? Maybe. The deadline ups guys values, especially proven track record guys.

That being said, I could also see him either (a) not waiving the NMC, or (b) a team only willing to trade picks rather than prospects or roster players. It is very much up in the air. It wouldn't surprise me to see any of these scenarios play out.

You'd be lucky to get either Runblad or a 1st from Phoenix Individually for Briere let alone both of them together. If you're able to get either of those pieces alone for Danny, I'd consider it a good move.

Maybe you could do Briere, Meszaros and a 2nd for Runblad and a 1st.

Without pointing at anyone in particular in this thread, I do find it funny that there are so many who criticise others for trade proposals and use the term 'it's definitely going to take' and 'that's not enough' all over the place, but I can't remember a single trade that's actually happened where the HF brain trust has deemed it fair value.

JVR for L. Schenn straight up was a somewhat popular proposal by non-Flyers and Leafs fans.
