Sorry for the missing response. Yes, value-wise I think it's in the right direction. As written before, just don't see the Schenns included.
Also, no one can deny the talent Baertschi has but our top-9 on the wings is pretty stacked too.
Hartnell - C - Voracek
Briere - C - Simmonds
Gagne - C - Read
with McGinn,Knuble, Fedotenko,Rinaldo or Talbot as fill-ins and Cousins (2nd in scoring with 98 points in the OHL) and Noebels (PF in the making in the AHL) we have plenty of them.
Would Baertschi be useful? Definetly. Just don't see any need to acquire him for what we'd give up.
Those are the guys under contract this year though, what about next season and beyond? There are Briere rumors and who knows if Gagne will return, Knuble probably won't be back, will Fedotenko and Rinaldo?
With the Flyers not playing so hot this I expect to see a decent amount of turnover and your GM has shown he isn't afraid to move key pieces. I think you could be underestimating the Flyers need for a winger come next fall. My suggestion may even work as a summertime/draft day type deal.
Bouwmeester to Colorado for Paul Stastny, David Jones, and a 1st? Maybe not the 1st, Colorado is probably gonna wanna hold on to that, but Jones IS a salary dump, as well.
I'm no Flame expert. Based on what I've read, Flames fans have said wings are not a need. Especially a $4M 0.5 PPG winger like Jones. Guessing he would actually have negative value for Calgary. Can any Flame faithful confirm or deny my assumption? But then again who knows what kind of Feaster-logic would come into play. I wouldn't put anything past him.
Could see Minnesota offering Granlund, but I don't think it's very likely.
Zero chance. While Granlund hasn't set the NHL on fire yet, everyone is still pretty high on him.
On the flipside our other blue chipper, Jonas Brodin, has been exceeding everyone's expectations. He has earned the coveted top pairing time with Suter early in the season, and has just run with it. We could use that Jaybo cap hit for something more needed. We got enough $6M+ men on our team.
If the flyers somehow acquire another first rounded(preferably moving briere) I would love to get bouw. Especially if they retain some salary. 1st rounder+ prospuct(not sure which one yet) +3rd rounder for jay bouw at 5 million per year
I think it is more likely we keep salary rather than give away another pick. But it looks like there is a decent deal to be had here.
Value wise sure. But as someone who watches all of both the Sens and Flames games, I'm not sold.
Bishop has been amazing since Andy went down. I was a little worried after that game against Tampa, but he's been stellar. So I'm not upset with him as a piece minus the fact that I feel goalie is the strongest position in our organization.
Da Costa is not a player I'm crazy about. Loads of skill sure but he hasn't put it together overly well yet. And he is older for a prospect so to speak.
Weircoch is a nice piece though. I see him being a fine #4 some day if he maxes out his potential.
So really it comes down to whether or not we need Bishop, which I don't think we do after this season with Ramo. So I'd rather trade Jay for pieces that actually fit a need, which is centres. Da Costa doesn't fix that.
The Sens fan in me likes it though. The idea of
Being our top four for the foreseeable future is awesome.
