If we trade let's say Malone and Brewer away.
We have 5 Forwards in SYR to find one, who is ready and Panik has already shown us that he plays good, but never got the chance to shine.
Than we have Gudas, Korobov and Barberio to find an Brewer replacement.
I think we should be okay with trading two of the 3 away. Those guys must get chances, they are all "superstars" in the AHL, 4 of them were at the ALL-star game, what can they show more to say: "Hey, we are ready, give us a chance"

It hasn't worked with these veterans so let the kids play. Conacher and Killorn will only get better we need to move some veterans to let more kids play, and add veterans with Toughness and grit.

You seem to like Mikkelson more than Aulie, why? I won't ask you why you prefer him over Lee cause I already know your hate for Lee.
Dont hold that armchair gm lineup to a tee, just basically put out who we had, thompson or pyatt are very good at either 3rd or 4th, Thompson initiates the forecheck nearly every shift and so does pyatt, I wouldnt be ashamed of either on the 3rd.

Killorn was put there because although he has potential to be a 2nd/3rd liner, and can play there already, I'd like to get an established winger to play with Vinny for once that could make TWO complete lines, then you have speed and grit on the bottom 6, thats the winning formula to the past few champions. Brown is very good, he just needs experience more than a few games from last season and he'll adjust. He was very quick in both ends last year.

I like Mikelsson and Aulie. But, I do like Mikelsson a bit more because we've seen what he is capable of. He's a very good skater that moves the puck better than Aulie, Lee and MAB(in our zone in comparison to MAB). Yes he makes some stupid plays but he's better all around than Lee and Aulie. I still dont understand why he's been thrown under the bus this season.

Conacher Stamkos Corey Perry
Panik. Lacavalier. MSL
Pouliot Johnson Killorn
Pyatt Thomson Palat

Labrie Tyrell

Hedman Salo
Carle. ???
Aulie Gudas

Barberio. Mikkelson

Lindback Garon

Perry and Gudas will add needed Grit, but the big hole will be finding a tough number 4 defensemen.

Something that seriously needs to be considered, if the team continues to circle the drain what happens to MSL? He only has, realistically, a few more years left to mount a Cup run. Do we hang on to him? Trade him? What happens if he thinks Tampa won't give him the best chance of winning that next ring and he asks for a trade?

I don't doubt his loyalty to the team and the city but I'm sure he wants another shot at winning it all, if he decides Tampa isn't the place then what happens?

Stop being realistic it's depressing I'm giving them Purcell to play with Getzlaf and Connolly who is still a top prospect. heck I'll even throw in Brian Lee

I see a lot of people have an open slot in their top 4 and Brewer gone. The ideal replacement for me would be a 25 year old, 6'3 205lb RHD, good skater, good vision, decent physically and is a former 1st round pick.
This guy sound awesome to anyone else?

Damn forgot to put his age, he's 25 and of course its Lee. Dudes a hidden gem that gets stuck on the 3td pair.

Can you and Stammertime91 put your thoughts on Lee and come up with the reality . He is neither impressive nor the worst D-man on the planet

Sigh...

Rushing prospects is what ****ed this franchise for years. We almost broke Vinny, we ****ed up player after player for years. Take a step back and look at the big picture. When you're finished with that, take about four more back and look at how this franchise will sustain itself for the next decade. Don't ****ing throw away player development all because we're going through one bad stretch of play where we aren't even really trying to contend.

These aren't 18-19 year olds right out of the CHL. Most are 21 and over and have been playing professionally for a couple of years. Even if the stop developing right now a few of them are better than what we're putting on the ice anyway.

So, if we are totally out of it this year, and it looks promising....what do you guys think we can get for Brewer? He doesn't have a history of being a "+" player throughout his career and he's not a rental with 2 years left on his somewhat sizable contract....

yeah totally, they're over 21 so lets let it rip, trade everyone and call up the crunch (minus brian lee obviously)

I doubt we see any of our bigger names dealt before the deadline. That will be addressed in the summer.

Where did I say we should blow it up? I just said that our young players should be ready to make an impact and not hinder their career or our future if we bring them up.
We do need to make a few moves to try to change the attitude of the team.

I totally understand your fear, that we rush them but what must they show you, that you think they are ready?

I don't think a 5 games test stint would hurt their development and I think some of them are ready, just like Killorn and Conacher. Connolly is in my opinion a sure thing to play in Tampa next year again, so he will stay down the whole year. But whats wrong with testing Johnson, Palat, Panik and maybe even Brown in the NHL? If one of them shows he must stay in the NHL, because he is too good to send him down, then he deserves the spot. And I bet with you that Johnson and/or Panik is 100% ready to play 12/13 minutes in the NHL.
Same thing on D, we are all high on Gudas because of his style/play and he shows a lot of promise, but it's still questionable if he has the talent to play a top4 role in the NHL, while many proscouts see a lot more talent in Barberio and I think he has the same "slump" as Conacher after his perfect year last year, so let's give him a chance and see if he can surprise as well. The only problem is we already have to much offense in the D, but I really can't see what he has to do, to give him a call-up? As long as we trade non of our current 8 D, no one will get a chance when some injurys come on the same time, because we would still have 6 to play.
Nobody will know, if they are really ready until they get a chance.

Possibly. If he sees a need in top6 and Flip walks/Det lets him walk. Lot of kids are pushing for top6 spot, I see Malone also getting traded unless he gets some fire under he's ass.

But top6 would be little too soft for my liking.

Flip-Stamkos-St.Louis
Conacher-Vinny-Purcell

Flip can play C too. He would be excellent 3rd line C but probably not too happy about that job, he can/will get top 6 ice time from other teams.

He'd be a long-term solution for that spot.
Yes, trading seems the best option. We have some extra assets to use for good/very good 3rd line C and some other physical, tough defensive assignments capable bottom 6er.

Gauthier, Lazar.. I'd like Jacob De La Rose on second round pick. Winger, but big, skating isn't bad and keeps he's legs moving and takes the body. Off. upside may not be enough for top6 job but I'd still take a look at him, depending where Tampa finishes and who's available.

Why should we try and land him? He has not much physicality, it's a Purcells like statline with more defensive awareness. He has 2 PIM, 3 blocked shots and 7 hits !!!

This,

Im probably one of the few who would actually keep Purcell.

Teddy's on contract for 2 more years, I see no harm in keeping him here for the duration, guys producing at PPG for god sakes, you don't throw players out like that for some muscle.
